BrowserStack is a cloud web and mobile testing platform that provides developers with the ability to test their websites and mobile applications across on-demand browsers, operating systems and real mobile devices. The company is based in India.[1]

History

The subscription-based service was founded by Ritesh Arora and Nakul Aggarwal in 2011[2] in Mumbai, India, and was originally started as a service to let developers test their websites on Internet Explorer.[3] In October 2015, BrowserStack was recognised as a Bootstrap Champ in The Economic Times Startup Awards.[4]

In January 2018, BrowserStack raised $50 million in Series A funding followed by a $200 million raise in June 2021.[5][6] In December 2021, the company acquired the open source test automation framework Nightwatch.js.[7] In August 2024, BrowserStack acquired German-based Bird Eats Bug for US$20 million.[8] In May 2025, BrowserStack acquired Requestly, a developer tool.[9]

Products

BrowserStack's products include Live, App Live,[10] Automate, App Automate and Percy.

Browserstack integrates with other software testing products such as Selenium IDE, Testim, Katalon and Testsigma.[11]

Philanthropy

On April 30, 2025, BrowserStack co-founders Ritesh Arora and Nakul Aggarwal pledged ₹100 crore to their alma mater, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, with the goal of transforming hostel facilities on campus. IIT Bombay stated that this is among the largest contributions it has ever received for student residential facilities. The donation aims to significantly improve student living conditions on campus.[12]
