Help talk:Citation Style 2
Confusing nameI feel the name of this help page is confusing. There were a group of templates known as Citation Style 2; the remaining templates can be found in Category:Citation Style 2 templates. I think it is confusing to reuse that name for this page, or to say that {{Citation}} is synonymous with Citation Style 2. Please see Talk:Aspromonte goat#RFC on citation formatting for an RfC about the scope of WP:CITEVAR and whether it can be used to prevent changes to underlying technical coding of reference citations, including correct XML, and changing problematic ref IDs. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 19:48, 21 November 2014 (UTC) Drawing citation metadata from WikidataIn preparation for the WikiCite event, currently taking place in Vienna, I have built a demonstrator template, {{Cite Q}}. Much work remains to be done, to deal with more complex use cases, and to resolve the issues listed there. Hopefully that will be addressed during the WikiCite hackathon, on Thursday (CET time, GMT +2). Your comments and remote participation will be welcome. Please use the template's talk page. No longer used?Should we delete this help page? Template:Citation invokes CS1 and there are no more templates left in Category:Citation Style 2 templates, so now this help page is pretty confusing. Mvolz (talk) 07:27, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

Planning rewriteI am planning to draft a rewrite of this page. The main questions an editor would have like "What is CS2?" or "How do I get CS2 output in a citation/article?" aren't answered. The majority of content on this page is about {{citation}}, but only offers older versions of material covered at Template:Citation/doc. Rjjiii (talk) 22:28, 12 April 2024 (UTC) |
