Star in the constellation Sculptor
Lambda2 Sculptoris is an orange-hued star in the southern constellation of Sculptor . On dark nights it is faintly visible to the naked eye, having an apparent visual magnitude of +5.90.[ 2] parallax shift of 9.63 mas as measured from Earth, it is located at a distance of 331 light-years .[ 1] proper motion , advancing arcsecond [ 1]
The spectrum of this star matches a spectral class of K1III,[ 4] luminosity class III indicating it is a giant star that has exhausted the hydrogen at its core . It is now fusing helium , being in the evolutionary stage known as the horizontal branch .[ 3] solar masses and 4.64 or 6.50 billion years.[ 3] Sun's radius and radiates 56.7 times the solar luminosity from its photosphere at an effective temperature of K [ 6]
