The edge of the building would have had a ride running on it lifting capsules up one side, over the pinnacle to heights around that of the London Eye. Inside was going to be a new Museum on Southampton featuring exhibits on the cities history such as the development, construction and testing of the Spitfire, Southampton town walls, the Mayflower, Southampton Blitz, Titanic and Viking and Saxon history. There was set to be an observation platform near the top that open 24 hours a day. There is currently a £3million Spitfire memorial planned in its place.[26][27][28]
