FAC removedCyclonebiskit, I've remove the relisting of Tropical Storm Kiko (2007) because it was only archived five days ago. FAC reviewers are stretched thin, other FACs need a chance, it usually takes several weeks to thoroughly address issues raised, and bringing FACs back too soon adds to the FAC backlog. Please take a bit more time to deal with concerns raised earlier. The Hurricane Herald aims to give a summary, both of the activities of the WikiProject and global tropical cyclone activity. If you wish to change how you receive this newsletter, or no longer wish to receive it, please add your username to the appropriate section on the mailing list. This newsletter covers all of September 2008. Please visit this page and bookmark any suggestions of interest to you. This will help improve monitoring of the WikiProject's articles. As a result of an extended Wikibreak, I will not be able to work on the next month's newsletter. Other users are welcome to get it together. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:53, 5 October 2008 (UTC) Storm of the month ![]() Hurricane Ike was among the costliest Atlantic hurricanes on record, based on a preliminary damage estimate of $31.5 billion (USD). The ninth named storm, fifth hurricane, and third major hurricane of the 2008 season, Ike developed on September 1 in the tropical Atlantic Ocean. Maintaining a generally westward track throughout its duration, Ike reached Category 4 status on the Saffir-Simpson scale, moving across the Turks and Caicos Islands at that intensity before weakening and crossing Cuba; heavy damage was reported in Cuba, which was still recovering from Hurricane Gustav just weeks prior. Gustav later moved across the Gulf of Mexico and struck near Galveston, Texas, where its effects were estimated as the costliest hurricane in Texas history. Further inland, the storm brought high winds and widespread damage, and its impact reached as far as Canada. Throughout its path, Gustav caused over 100 deaths, mostly in Texas and Haiti, and several hundred remain missing. Other tropical cyclone activity
Member of the month ![]() The September member of the month is CrazyC83, who has been a steady editor within the project for the past few years. Lately, the user's contributions include maintaining the current season articles, which is the biggest workload for the project. In the past, however, CrazyC83 was very active in writing articles, and was a proponent for all storms in the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season getting articles. Of note was his contributions to Hurricane Juan, which brought it to featured status and later to the main page. New and improved articles

Project News In other news, a handful of changes to project standards have taken place. Per a consensus on the project's talk page, the section of each tropical cyclone article previously entitled "Storm history" has been changed to "Meteorological history", thanks in part to Plasticup's bot which preformed the hundreds of edits to execute the change. In addition, a discussion is ongoing regarding the necessity of List of storms in the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, and similar articles for other seasons. Just a quick question for you...but it has some background, so this may be a bit long. A few minutes ago, Yellow Evan nominated Tropical Storm Lowell (2008) for GA review. I was going to quick fail the article, based on cleanup banners, lack of referencing, some confusion about its partnership with Ike, and some badly formatted refs that I'm assuming are supposed to be named refs but are showing up as errors. However, when skimming through the talk page, I noticed that you had expressed an interest in working on the article...however, this seemed to be more to prevent the article from being merged than to immediately nominate it for GA. I have also noticed in my travels around WP that Yellow Evan appears to be annoying a few people in the TC Project, and his spelling alone gives me the same feeling as...say...fingernails on a chalkboard. I have read the discussions on this article, and it appears that this may be a very pointy nomination, designed to fail. OK, so to get to my point - Do you have a preference as to what I do with the article? If you have no interest (or don't have the time to work on it), I will fail it, with a quick review noting some comments. However, if you have the time and the interest to bring this up to GA status, I will do a more in-depth review, as well as allowing you some extra time if you need it to bring the article up to par. See, I told you this might get long! Drop me a note with what you'd like me to do. Dana boomer (talk) 13:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

It's sort of awkward. I am Yellow Evan's mother. I hope you might have suspected this but he is not an adult. He's still several years short of getting his driver's license, in fact. I am truly sorry for any problems he has caused and I fully understand why he keeps getting blocked. But please also understand a lot of this is just ignorance -- willful ignorance, but ignorance. I have been sitting by his side for the past week and trying to supervise his contributions. Even so I'm not quite sure what he has done wrong and I know he doesn't, fully. Since he is really not mature enough emotionally to be doing this, I have made a deal with him not to do any editing at least until Christmas break. Hopefully I will be able to extend this further. I really think he will be able to contribute a lot when he is older and has better communication skills. If you could let other users know this too. I'm sure you all have been very patient with him but I thought it might be helpful for you to know the true situation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.207.189.2 (talk) 18:57, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Article requestHey Cyclonebiskit. Could you write TD 15 (2007)? You seem to be the best at these minor storms. :-) –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 19:03, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
WarningYesterday, I was looking at the edit history of your sandboxes and I saw Elida and Douglas were copied and pasted to the current Douglas and Elida articles. Please do not do this because it destroys the edit history. Next time please move them. If you continue to do so you could get blocked from editing. Thank you. Re: Early season snowfallYeah, I happen to live in the Hudson Valley, where we're expecting several inches of snow. What's worse, many of the trees still have leaves on them, so power outages are looking rather inevitable. I think this might be the earliest winter storm watch I can remember. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 22:00, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Will anyone add this two this page and fix this, which is a mess although the first one has been fixed somewhat.Have fun in the snow. Leave Message orYellow Evan home or User:Yellow Evan/Sandbox 03:38, 28 October 2008 (UTC) WPAC Ace
