Disambiguation of Novi StarsAll sorted :) --Really21 (talk) 15:25, 3 September 2012 (UTC) Gerry SkiltonHi, your bot sent me a confusing message that I had added links to the above article which I had not done. I had simply restored the article which had, erraneously, been turned into a redirect page. I set that right but I did NOT add any links. Anyway, what's the point of your bot telling me that I added links? I'm not sure I need to receive that kind of information, and anyway, the way the words are minced in that message, I feel it sounds a bit patronizing at least to an experienced user. I think you may want to go over the messages you programmed your bot to send. --Krawunsel (talk) 11:35, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

ThanksThanks for your vigilance. Mugginsx (talk) 13:35, 9 September 2012 (UTC) the coolest bot ever!whoever had the idea to do this: super great! I could fix them in a minute or so due to the tooltip coming up. I do 'sloppy' keywording: things that should be keywords which can be looked up I do just enclose in square brackets. If they come back red I remove the brackets, if not then I did in the past treat it as a valid lookup to assist the reader learning more, and not bother to actually follow them. Now, right, this time I did hit three disambiguation pages and the bot sent me a message (I first thought it came from someone else and thanked him for his input LOL). I used the fix it link in the talk message, the links were red, and clicking brought a great tool tip with selections, actually the ones that would fit were already lit up! Great software, great coding! Bots rock! Mike (talk) 18:43, 9 September 2012 (UTC) Possible expansion?I know nothing about coding so the framework may or may not be already in place. Thanks DPL bot ;) This proves that your bot is working and useful to Wikipedia to minimize or catch human error. -John Jcheckler (talk) 17:08, 13 September 2012 (UTC) It WorkedI had no idea this was around; I think it's a great idea cuz I wouldn't have known myself to check. I'm like anybody else, I stumbled into Wikipedia editing gradually, and I typically don't notice stuff unless it comes and hits me in the head. I'm not even sure if the dis link was my fault; but I'm perfectly happy to fix it as it needed to be fixed. Alternative idea: check this when someone edits a page: right when they're presented with the first page after clicking Edit. When I'm about to make changes anyway. Hmmm maybe I see why you did it this way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OsamaBinLogin (talk • contribs) 21:46, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

InedibleHulk (talk) 04:24, 19 November 2012 (UTC) Incorrect disambiguation noticeHi Your bot posted a disambiguation notice to me which is incorrect: We noticed though that when you edited Reijo Tossavainen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kymi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles The link concerned does NOT point to the disambiguation page but to a specific page. The markup concerned (without spaces) is: [ [ kymi, finland | kymi ] ] Your bot appears to be reading only the content of the markup after the pipe. If you wish, please reply via my Talk page. Thanks. LookingGlass (talk) 08:10, 19 November 2012 (UTC) The Royal BotI agree with User:InedibleHulk above that your bot uses inappropriate and annoying language. Have you any idea how patronising your bot can sound to content editors when it tells them: Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that... How does your bot assess the worth of my edits? What is the basis of this accolade that Wikipedia appreciates my help? Was that decided at some extraordinary board meeting chaired by Jimmy Wales? Perhaps an emergency meeting called so an immediate assessment could by made in the name of Wikipedia concerning the value of my recent contributions? And who or what exactly is this Royal We that claims it has "noticed" something. I notice you didn't respond to InedibleHulk, so perhaps you think this is not strange language. Is that because the careful assessments I suggested would be needed are in fact carried out by appropriate monitoring committees before the bot makes its assertions? --Epipelagic (talk) 23:26, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Confusing notificationsIs there any point making confusing notifications like this? Had it been posted about an edit that was made today, it might be of some use but since I haven't edited the article in four days the first thing I felt was confusion. Since DPL bot doesn't include a diff of the edit that the message concerns, it makes it hard to work out what the message is about. As it happens, I did add the link but it took me a while to find the diff of the edit, which was this, made six days ago, my 7th last edit on the article and 291 edits down my contribution history. At best, that's a stale notification. --AussieLegend (✉) 13:14, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

JayPlease excuse me - I'm confused about the system, but hope to learn! The article on the jay was edited by self by linking Britain and Ireland using [[ ]]. This was seen as disambiguation. How so! When you have finished with this I have other questions. Osborne 20:39, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi: you are dead right! I did mean "Great Britain"! I am pleased and grateful for your advice as I get rather cross with people who dont know the difference between England, Britain, Great Britain, UK, British Isles. As for "piping - thats is new to me, I will look into it. As to whether Britain or Great Briting is political, well to me they are the same, however I bow to your opinion/knowledge. I would be gratefull for your assistance on another matter (which I have not checked for the last few days). In the Irish Naturalists' Journal Euthyneura myrtilli Macquart is mentioned and I decided to try to add it. According to the article Ir. Nat I. 30: 55 -56 it is a a fly (Diptera: Hybotidae). However it seems there is another animal (a slug if I remenber correctly) and I tried to separate them and got the entry into wild confusion! (unless someone has sorted it out recently). Your help will be gratefully received. I am surprised that there are two genera with the same name. This would not happen ib botany"--90.215.64.161 (talk) 17:04, 27 January 2013 (UTC) Disambiguation links in John Wilson Orchestra![]() Many thanks for notifying me about the disambiguation links in this article, which I created and have intermittently edited. Shorter notice?Hi! I appreciate the dablink notices, and although I'm pleased to say that I've managed to avoid getting any recently, I wonder if you could produce an opt-in shorter version for experienced editors that includes just the basic info? Maybe something like this: (based on an entry on User talk:Lobsterthermidor) DPL bot notice for 1 Jan

Thanks for bringing this to my attentionI'm currently ripping out a number of improper links of districts to schools within the district. This led to the mistaken link to the disambiguation page which has now been fixed. Funny enough, the US census actually doesn't seem to know about Crane in Oregon at all so thanks for bringing my attention to the disambiguation issue and this funny little mystery. Second, a suggestion: the article that I am editing 'angle' has over 60 times the word 'turn' (the one which I left with a disambiguation link on the page) is used. It would be nice to have a way to know which word needs to be edited by the number word count. I mean how do I know if it was the first, 50th, or both times that 'turn' came up as an issue? Thanks again. John W. Nicholson (talk) 22:07, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

SuggestionAs well as pointing out disambiguation links, it would be useful to inform editors of new links in Category:Redirects from misspellings. It's very easy to use a common misspelling (e.g. Billie Holliday or T. S. Elliot without noticing, as the link appears OK. Colonies Chris (talk) 12:54, 7 March 2013 (UTC) Thanks - Disambiguation March 7Dear Bot, Thanks for the notification regarding the link pointing to the Lavaur disambiguation page I posted on Bridewell Palace. Now fixed. FClef (talk) 00:54, 8 March 2013 (UTC) The bot just tagged this as having a large number of incoming links needing disambiguation. While there are a lot of links all but one are from non-article namespaces and there isn't much point in fixing them (as noted in the template documentation). Would it be possible to have the bot consider only article-space links? Hut 8.5 15:41, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
