Thanks for all the excellent work you are doing with the portal, particularly in keeping it up to date. I see that Runcorn (my home town) features well this month.

You may have noted that, having ensured that all the Cheshire Grade I and II* listed churches have articles, I have been working through the other Grade I listed buildings in Cheshire. I may have sometimes strayed into your territory (geographically), so please correct/expand anything you know about in your area. It would be good to have at least a stub on Crown Inn, Nantwich, and as you have the necessary info, wonder if you wold like to have a go at it, when convenient. And while we're at it, why don't you go for featured list for Listed buildings in Nantwich, Cheshire? The Greater Manchester Project has succeeded in getting quite a number of lists featured and I think the Nantwich one is as good as most of them and better than some. Best wishes. Peter I. Nevertheless, it appears the article's most vocal critic (and, actually, personal critic) is qworty, who seems to have a history of using inflammatory language within his capacity as an admin. On February 1, 2008, the article entitled Gameplasma was deleted. As you are one of the admins on the list for getting the text for review, I was wondering if there was a way I could see the article because I think that either it was wrongly deleted, or I can fix it to make it acceptable. I'm not quite sure what I should do as far as this matter is concerned, so I figured I would just ask you.

I appreciate the help. The part I am confused about is that the "copyrighted" material was posted on Wikipedia by the same guy who created it on the Gameplasma website. I've read your intervention about the deletion of the article "Pier Augusto Gemignani". I was the creator of that page, and I think the deletion was inappropriate, since Gemignani's works were quite important for the History of Medecine and the voyage of Columbus. Dr. and Mrs. Germer lived two houses away from ours on early 1950's Long Hill Road, N.J., when dad (Al Miller) worked for Bell Labs. I was a child, but remember Lestor well (tall and skinny to little me; he told me he flew for the French in WWI); he got irked at his sweet wife frequently, like when she gave me her son's reserve Navy officer uniforms to "play sailor" in, as the son wasn't useing them anymore. Long later, when I was a youth in N.C., three times dad explained the Germer experiment; but I could not grasp it. I'd like to read a biography book on Dr. Germer; is there one? One snowy day; dad, Dr. Germer, Dr. Shockley, and one or two other Germer Bell Labs friends, tried to ski on the Van Dyne farm behind our home. But the skiing physics didn't permit them, so they made a camp fire, made coffee, and chatted. A child knowing not to speak before adults, I sensed a respected talking order with Shockley at top (perhaps also from assertiveness) and Dr. Germer almost next (also assertive). Dad at the bottom talking order, mentioned (men in white coats is all I remember of them) in New York City said my learning problems came from polyps in my ears, and their massive x-ray radiation treatment should cure it. Loudly, assertively, Dr. Shockley said "I forbid that"; if dad let them (those quacks?) do that, I'd be an idiot in a mental hospital the rest of my life. I would not be able to (poorly) write this today except for Dr. Shockley forcefully "forbidding it"; and Germer and Shockley, with others; helping to make the computor transister possible. I've posted the article on Fly Communications because I've found the firm has an interesting take on the theory of combining direct marketing (which is very scientific, is measurable, and incorporates metrics) with branding (which is very emotional, hard to measure, and imprecise).

This firm has been experimenting for 7 years and has produced good results with this kind of approach. Although Fly Communications is a practitioner of this kind of theory, any firm can be successful combining the two approaches. However, many firms *do not* choose such a strategy because they are comfortable with the existing scientific practice or they are comfortable with their existing emotional practice. The founders of the firm (Larry Rowen the direct marketing practitioner and Dave Warren the branding practitioner) conceived of this combination in 2001. Now 7 years later, after much successful experimentation, this can now be claimed as a successful practice.

The history of the firm is important in understanding how the practitioners collaborate to make for a success effort.

Finally, I am not an employee, I am not paid to write this article, and I have no financial interest in Fly Communications.

I appreciate the idea that Wikipedia is not the place to advertise. However, how does one walk the fine line to report on progress in successful techniques of advertising. I think this kind of progress has important intellectual value, just as the recognition of how our individual tastes for "nostalgia" are cultivated ... yes, it only seems like advertisers use this "nostaglia" theory, but it does reflect something inherent in human nature. Likewise, the firm has successfully combined these two conflicting approaches (direct marketing, which involves a call-to-action, and branding, which involves an emotional connection). And I believe that Fly was one of the first firms to combine these successfully.

Thus, I believe it is worthy of publication.

Regarding, the idea that the article in question is "advertising" something, this is not the case. The article does not "advertise" any product or service, but the article is about the advertising industry and a company that has pioneered a particular approach.

An easy way to demonstrate that this article is NOT advertising is to pretend the article were about a firm that were to pioneer the combination of baking soda (used by bakers) and vinegar (used by salad chefs) to produce a chemical result that could be used with childrens' Science Fair projects illustrating volcanoes and their lava flow. The fact that is has become popular does not diminish the experimentation and success with combining features of separate disciplines (bakers vs. salad chefs).

Considering that the article is not intended to advertise, what kind of improvements do you suggest to make it suitable? Clearly, Wikipedia has articles on companies and other companies in the advertising industry ... maybe a little explanation of improvement would help me make the article suitable to Wikipedia standards.

I don't have access right now to the Oxford DNB, but none of the facts in the two sentences between the reference to note 4 and note 1/5 can be properly based on the brief paragraph by a photographer--that's not reliable, in my opinion. But have it any way you like it, I don't want to get territorial, and I thought I'd give you my reason on your talk page rather than in the summary of a revert. Hello Addict, I just looked, and I don't have access through my university to the ODNB, and the ones in my area don't either--shame, cause I'm kind of interested in these 19th and 20th century British women writers and others. I saw that you put a note about need for citation regarding how prestigious a journal Educational Studies in Mathematics is. In Norway, we have a ranking system for journals, and this journal has had the highest ranking for years (see this link). Thanks for your advice :) I'll certainly check Scholar more often in future but I'm still trying to perfect my judgement at AfD. I want to make sure I start making correct decisions a lot more often before running for adminship again next year.

Out of curiosity, since you're a former virologist, I don't suppose you'd be interested in trying to help out around WikiProject Medicine? Ah still, you should reconsider joining. It's calmed down a lot within the past few years. As for RfA, I'm currently undergoing 'coaching' (more like a review) so whenever I mess up I try to take it there and learn from it. After all, we can only learn from our mistakes. I still try to be careful but I'm also still learning. I might try deletion sorting lists if I can find something that I'm particularly good at (i.e. medical stuff).
