After a few days incommunicado, I find that the entry about me in wikipedia has been deleted. Can I ask you please to reconsider for the following reasons.

1. I am not an academic and have never claimed to be (just teaching at a university does not make me an academic!). One person commented about WP:PROF. Quite inappropriate. I am practical and experience-based, which is much rarer. Nor am I writing on academic subjects. No academic would have had the experience to write on the parts of finance I cover, like the female perspective or expatriate life. When I write seriously on language learning, it is with a humorous slant which would be totally unacceptable to publishing houses where academic learning and jokes are dealt with by departments which are not on speaking terms with each other. 2. I am criticised for using Lulu. I earn far more per book from Lulu than I ever did from Penguin or could from any other publisher. Another example of my practicality. 3. I have never paid a penny to see my name in print – quite the contrary. But, even if it had been vanity publishing, history is full of great authors who paid for themselves, like Proust. 4. Publishers are interested in huge sales and huge profits but that is no guarantee of quality. 5. The people who decided to close the entry about me have no idea how many books I sell or how wide is my readership. The internet shortcircuits the traditional role of the reviewer. 6. They cannot deny that I cover an unusually broad range of subjects nor infer from it that I must know little about any of them. 7. Maybe only 15 libraries still hold my 1993 Penguin book, but they are in 7 different countries (and in 4 continents), while it was only published in 2! 8. I'm one of the people who commented in the Afd; what is necessary to support the article is very simple: reviews in 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases or book jacket blurbs). Thanks for your comments on this - some challenges there! The trouble is that I have having BIG problems with my broadband supply - it goes on and off and makes working on WP very frustrating; nearly impossible. And the 10 day limit is getting close. I have complained to my provider on 4 occasions and at last they are going to get on to BT where I suspect the fault lies. Let's hope I can do some constructive work on the list during the weekend. Hi Xasodfuih -- Usually the DYKers go with assuming good faith on properly cited references that are not readily available online, and lack of an explicit check shouldn't put selectors off. However, if you want to e-mail pdfs then the Science and Lancet articles on which the hook is based would be useful. (I'm actually a Lancet subscriber, but I can't work out how to get at the pre-1990s articles.) Drop me a talk page note if you do e-mail, as I've been having e-mail problems recently. I've redownloaded the pdfs from Science (hadn't saved them). If you want them email my username (starting with lowercase) at gmail.com. I don't think attachments can be sent through the wiki email interface. Unfortunately, I don't have a pdf for the Lancet paper because my online access to that journal (through sciencedirect.com) only goes back to 1995; perhaps you're having the same problem. This is an older DYK submission of mine that's still listed on the submissions page, but not yet verified. On Wikiproject pharmacology I offered to send the PDF for the paper used to justify the fact in the hook, but nobody seemed interested. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks for your note. Firstly on the dates: John Offley who married Anne Crewe died 1688 so the date of the marriage was clearly 17thc. I dont have a date for Anne's death but the inheritance by their son John d1749 was probably about 1708 when he changed his name to Crewe. As to refs I will add citations for the marriage and 1688 death. I noticed in your answers to the questionnaire that youi're interested in SSSIs. I think it would be posssible to promote the Cheshire list to FL with, albeit, a lot of work. There are many already at FL that could be used as templates (Avon · Cleveland · East Sussex · Greater London · Greater Manchester · Hertfordshire · Isle of Wight · Merseyside · Somerset · West Midlands · Wiltshire). You supported a merge of OxyVita to Hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers at a recent AfD discussion. That merge now needs to be done. Would you consider helping with that process, either be removing information from OxyVita that you don't think needs to be moved to the other article, or by copying information to the target article that you think should be preserved? Just to say how pleased I am to have you back in action on the project. I've felt rather "lonely" in your "absence". Ddstretch has been involved in other matters and apart from a couple of others who have given a little support, I feel the project has languished. My own "skills" I feel are somewhat limited to writing/improving articles, and not in the clever things you and others do to make the project work (but I suppose my activity has some value, too). With your help and advice we have managed to get Listed buildings in Runcorn, Cheshire as a FL; many thanks for that - it's the first "purely" Cheshire item to get featured status. As you must realise, I was inspired to go for this by your own Listed buildings in Nantwich, Cheshire; again thanks for that. Let's get that list featured; vastly much more interesting than Runcorn! I went for FL for Runcorn for various motives; to get something featured for Cheshire; to put Runcorn a bit more on the map (a dump, but with some interesting buildings nevertheless); and I suppose for a little bit of personal "glory". I have the material for more FLs locally, but that's a bit parochial. I'm a bit daunted by my uncomfortable experiences in trying to get Runcorn as a FA and reluctant at present to go for FA again (my problem?).

One thing that does worry me is that the project nominally has over 30 participants, but where are they? I can find under 10 who are active (less than the requirement for a project). Should we ask the named participants if they are still interested (or would that be too dangerous)? I am very jealous of the activities of the WikiProject Greater Manchester, but at least they regard us as a sister project and have been very generous with their help to us - let's keep that going. Thanks for your long and considered reply - much appreciated. I completely understand your disenchantment. I frequently get frustrated; and I am not even an admin. I was upset recently during the FLC by comments from an American high school kid who criticised my "poor prose" - which consisted mainly of commas which s/he considered were in the wrong place; or made suggestions for changes which to me were unintelligible. Nev1 saved me at that time! I have never been a professional writer and am always pleased when people like you and Malleus F. help me out. Still I think I am reasonably good at ferreting out facts and including them in articles. My Wikiphilosophy is that it consists of articles, which are accurate and properly referenced, for the benefit of anyone who consults it. The whole superstructure of admins, projects, etc. etc. interests me little - and I am not good at that stuff. So I write articles, and leave others to use them, make something of them, etc. Which maybe explains why I am not a prolific contributor to discussions on the Cheshire project, or in other places. My main interest has become in the subject of heritage, as a result of which Cheshire now has the most comprehensive collection of articles on listed churches. This may be of little interest to some but I believe it will be of more value to the future people consulting WP than articles on the episodes of The Simpsons, soap operas, tracks of pop albums, etc.

In respect of listed buildings, you must get your Nantwich list featured. To me it is nonsense that a dump like Runcorn has a featured list while the magnificent heritage of Nantwich has not. You do not need a photo of everything. The Runcorn list has all those photos because I took them initially to go on the website of the Runcorn & District Historical Society (of which I was at that time the chairman) and they are all here, and there are also some unlisted buildings here. The other featured lists do not have photos of everything on the list. In respect of coordinates, you do not need a GPS (waste of time). I was worried about finding coordinates until, guided by WP, I found the website Earthtools which makes it amazingly easy. With this and an OS map, all you have to do is to zoom into the area, then the building; hit (I think) "find place", then "location" and it gives you the coordinates in two forms and the OS map reference - easy, easy. Try it! I've used this not only for the "list" but also for the Cheshire churches.

No I'm not going for FAC with Runcorn again; it's got far too much detail for people to nitpick. My skin is too thin. After a working life with plenty of stress, I see no point in retirement of seeking more stress. Your suggestions are interesting. I re-wrote quite a bit of Chester Cathedral and with a lot of help from other editors, it achieved GA status with no quibble - the assessor said "yes" without any issues raised - a unique experience for me. Then another editor came along and almost completely reformatted/rewrote it. This then needed some tidying up, and that's how it stands. It's a pity; IMO opinion it's a possible candidate for FA which has been messed up enough to now need a lot of work to rectify. It's good-enough as it stands, unless someone (not me) takes it in hand. Norton Priory is a bit thin on material, although a new book on the archaeological findings is imminent. A problem is that it has to compare with Netley Abbey, a FA which has much more substance. I have been in touch with the main editor of this (who supported me recently over the Runcorn list) and she may help - but it's some time off.

Biographies. I have actually started over 50 biography articles (plus some stubs), obviously not all of which are Cheshire people, some of which I have suggested (somewhere - I get confused). My main aim is to do some work on John Douglas, Cheshire's best architect according to Pevsner (and I agree). I am trying to get hold of Hubbard's biography, a copy of which is held either by my son in law, or his father, and I must put more pressure on them. Then we could I think have the basis, if we split the article and the works, for a GA (or even FA) and a FL. I will work on it.

At the present I am in the process of trying to improve the article on Eaton Hall - see User:Peter I. Vardy/sandbox2. I note that a category has been created for "Members of the United Kingdom Parliament for Cheshire constituencies". Should this not be a subcat of "Members of the United Kingdom Parliament for English constituencies"? Another thing (as they say) while I'm on to categories, I am unhappy with the "People from ...." cat. It is confusing - it includes "people born in...." and "notable residents of...." (could be both of course). Should we not have separate categories for each? If you agree, you might like to take this up wherever it should be taken up. Meanwhile, I'll just carry on writing and trying to improve articles!

My apologies for going on! It's a relief from my present battles with Talktalk (who cannot provide me with a stable broadband connection but who making it impossible to go elsewhere) and the General Medical Council who are about to strike me off their register (and the only thing I have done "wrong" is to refuse to pay their unreasonable fees). Sorry I did not answer your message on my talk page earlier - excuse below. Hope you are enjoying your break. The good news is that Bridgemere is in the queue for DYK and so should soon appear; well done to make a DYK from such limited material! For the last month or more I have been trying to detect all the Scheduled Monuments in Cheshire. It has turned out to be a monster - over 200 (and maybe more to come). This is far too many for one list so I am splitting it into three; the first one is published as Scheduled Monuments in Cheshire (pre-1066). WikiProject Greater Manchester have submitted their Scheduled Monuments in Greater Manchester as a FLC, but they have only 39 SMs, so it's much easier for them.

Regarding an image for Runcorn, I think we should go for Grade II* and that probably the most suitable are Runcorn Railway Bridge.jpg or Runcorn All Saints 1.jpg. In respect of Crewe Hall it is certainly of (rather, above) GA standard, although you will doubtless get some of the usual quibbles (some paras too short, and the like). Go for it!

Personally I am about to get struck off the medical register, and am in the middle of changing broadband provider. Re the former, I am not prepared to pay £390 per annum (not working so not tax deductible) for just the pride of having achieved something. Re the latter (which is driving me mad), they are likely to charge me £70 for breaking the contract, and if they do I shall counter-claim more than that in compensation because I contend it is they who have broken it. Thanks for your copy editing and comments about Rowland Egerton-Warburton. I have dealt with the surname issue and hope it reads OK. Thanks for the link to his poems - fancy their being available! I too did not think he was particularly notable until another editor started an article about him. When I came to expand it, I realised that perhaps he should be credited as being more notable than he currently is (if you see what I mean). Arley Hall is a major visitor attraction in N Cheshire, and I am sure that he was as responsible for its architecture as the young inexperienced architect he employed. The herbaceous border is recognisded as being one of the finest in the country, and it was he and his wife who created it as the first, or one of the first, in the country. And the changes he made to Great Budworth (and that's an article needing considerable improvement), which has changed little since his day, is by far the prettiest (most picturesque) village in N Cheshire - a (fortunately) little-known gem. I don't know much about poetry, but I do not think that his doggerel leaves much to posterity, even though the ODNB describes him as a "poet".

After the inability of TalkTalk to provide me with a reliable broadband service, and the incompetence of BT to process my order, I am currently without a connection. My new provider, Zen, cannot activate a new service (because it has to be arranged through BT) until Feb 23rd, so I have to rely on the hospitality of my daughter and her family to allow me access to their computer when they do not need it. So my contributions to WP will be occasional for the next 10 days. I will try to keep an eye on what is happening to the articles in which I have an interest.

I really appreciate it. You are probably wondering why I ask. Well, I have spent my weekend on a graph found here: User:Ikip/AfD on average day. I am interested in what type of user gets their page deleted, etc....November 15 is just a day pulled out of a hat by another user.

The article was deleted because "Autobiography of non-notable blogger, no evidence of meeting WP:BIO, though it contains a lot of wikipuffery." and now the same person is attempting to delete "Commonweal Institute" saying it exists only to the "Dave Johnson (blogger)" article. Given that every edit you've made to the encyclopedia has been self-promotional (except for the ones that merely libeled me), that some of those edits have been to articles where I participate on the talk page and thus have on watchlists that notify me when rare edits get made, and that flashmobs of new single-purpose accounts suddenly appear to edit the articles you create, yes, I have the articles you work on on my watchlist. Congratulations on this; it looks very good on the main page. Yes, my main activities for the immediate future are to keep struggling with the scheduled monuments (a vastly larger task than I had expected; but should be worthwhile in the end), work on John Douglas, try to add a bit more to Bridgewater Canal, and any bits and pieces that come along.

For the meet-up I suspect that I am geographically rather out on a limb - I think the other likely people live in south or east Cheshire. But I am prepared to travel, so anywhere would be OK for me. Are you thinking of a pub lunch somewhere attractive????? However March is "out" for me: a "big" family birthday, a trip to Switzerland followed by one to the Lakes takes me to the end of the month. What I meant was that the message left here by that person a few minutes after I left you a message demonstrated a different problem. Every article I edit or whenever I leave a user talk message that person, within minutes, edits it, removes it or leaves a comment, often disparaging (though not in this case). While I was searching Wiki, I came across the pages for International Medical Press, Antiviral Therapy and Antiviral Chemistry and Chemotherapy. Please note, that the article is now factually incorrect. At the moment, it states that International Medical Press was a subsiduary of Meditech Media until 2009. This is not correct. International Medical Press has also had an office in Asis for some time, so this needs to be included. While I appreciate your comment about conflicts on interest, I am more concerned that the content is correct.
