Sorry I have trouble saying the following in French: This template works fine in the English wikipedia, but unfortunately not in the French one at this moment, although I can't see any difference between the two templates. I found another version of this template, which worked fine yesterday, but Bibi Saint-Pol called it vandalism and changed the template back. Test it yourselves: Look up the entry on Homère using Internet Explorer and look at the Greek version of his name, Ὅμηρος. Can you really read the first character of this name? I can only see "μηρος"; the first character is replaced by a square./Ericus, 4th of April, 2006

Yes, it's true for Internet Explorer but it works in Firefox and Opera in the both languages. I try to copy the english template code and paste in the french template and by clicking on Changements en cours (diff with the previous version) there is no difference. Strange for IE... Perhaps global parameters of the french Wikipedia, or the CSS class polytonic but I can't find this class neither in fr: neither in en:.

Isn't the main point of the Polytonic, Unicode, and IPA templates to make special characters readable in Internet Explorer? Firefox and Opera may be better browsers, but the majority of all web users still use IE, don't they? In the English wikipedia these templates are connected to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css, but in French wikipedia, as well as other language versions, and in Wiktionary, this doesn't seem to work as well. As I said another version, independent of MediaWiki:Common.css, seemed to work better here, but this version was considered vandalism and removed./Ericus, 4 avril 2006 à 16:55 (CEST)

Ah oui, j'avais pas fait attention à ça, mais de toutes façons, ça marchait sans, c'est le plus important. La classe polytonic n'est pas définie sur la Wikipédia francophone (c'est pour ça que ça ne marchait pas) mais l'est dans la Wikipédia anglophone dans le en:MediaWiki:Common.css ; ce qu'a rajouté Ericus est justement le contenu de cette classe extraite du Common anglophone. ~ Seb35 [^_^] 4 avril 2006 à 19:14 (CEST)Répondre

J'ai révoqué la modif de Rémih, qui est une fausse bonne idée : vu la manière dont le modèle est employé, ça aboutit à des phrases du style : « en grec en grec ancien [mot en grec] » ou encore pire, « les Grecs portent un en grec ancien [mot en grec] ou chapeau à large bords ». Ce modèle est souvent suivit de la translittération du mot, qui se retrouve dans un modéle lang :

• {{grec ancien|συλλέγω}}, {{Lang|grc-Latn|''sullégô''}} → συλλέγω, sullégô

Le caractère de séparation est variable.

Je propose d'ajouter un deuxième paramètre qui utilise la fonction « trans » du modèle lang ce qui donnerai :

• {{grec ancien|συλλέγω|''sullégô''}} → συλλέγω (sullégô)

des oppositions ?

OK pour moi, mais avec cette présentation plutôt (barre oblique et italiques) :

• {{grec ancien|συλλέγω|sullégô}} → συλλέγω / sullégô
