데이비드 존 코델 어빙(David John Cawdell Irving, 1938년 3월 24일 ~ )은 제2차 세계 대전 기간 나치 독일에 대해 집중적으로 조명하는 영국의 작가이자 홀로코스트 부정론자이다.^[1] 어빙의 대표 저서로는 The Destruction of Dresden(1963년), Hitler's War(1977년), Churchill's War(1987년), Goebbels: Mastermind of the Third Reich(1996년)이 있다. 어빙의 저서에서는 아돌프 히틀러가 유대인 문제에 대한 최종 해결책(유대인 홀로코스트)를 몰랐거나 혹은 알았더라도 반대했을 것이라고 주장했다.^[2] 어빙의 역사부인주의, 음모론적 주장과 2차대전 시기 독일의 전쟁 범죄에 대한 주장을 주류 역사학자들은 받아들이고 있지 않지만, 한 때는 나치 독일에 대한 새로운 시각과 새로운 역사문서를 발굴하는 능력은 인정받기도 하였다.^[3]

어빙은 1970년대 히틀러가 유대인을 몰살하라고 명령하지도 않았고 홀로코스트를 알지도 못했다고 주장하면서 주류 역사학계를 벗어나기 시작했다.^[4] 어빙은 1988년 의사과학적인 루처 보고서를 기반으로 특히 유대인이 아우슈비츠 강제 수용소에서 가스실에서 살해된 적이 없다고 부인하며 홀로코스트 부정론을 전면적으로 주장하기 시작했다.^[5]^[6]
