ഭൂമിയുടെ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിലേക്ക് വളരെയധികം ഉൽക്കകൾ കടന്ന് കത്തിയമരുന്ന പ്രതിഭാസമാണ് ഉൾക്കാമഴ. രാത്രി ആകാശത്താണ് ഈ കാഴ്ച പലപ്പോഴും ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നത്. ഭൂമി ഏതെങ്കിലും വാൽനക്ഷത്രത്തിന്റെയോ മറ്റൊ പരിക്രമണപഥത്തിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോഴാണ് സാധാരണഗതിയിൽ ഉൽക്കാമഴ കാണപ്പെടാറ്. അപൂർവ്വം ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ ഉൽക്കകൾ കത്തിത്തീരാതെ ഭൂമിയിൽ എത്താറുമുണ്ട്. എല്ലാ വർഷവും മുടങ്ങാതെ നടക്കുന്ന ഉൽക്കാവർഷങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.

2013 ഫെബ്രുവരി 15 ന് റഷ്യയിലുണ്ടായ ഉൽക്കാമഴയിൽ 400 ഓളം പേർക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റിരുന്നു. ഉൽക്കാമഴയെത്തുടർന്നുണ്ടായ സമ്മർദ്ധതരംഗങ്ങൾ മൂലം ജനൽചില്ലുകളും മറ്റും പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചാണ് കൂടുതൽപേർക്കും പരിക്കേറ്റത്^[14][15]
