യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയന്റെ (EU) ഔദ്യോഗിക കറൻസിയാണ് യൂറോ(കറൻസി ചിഹ്നം: €; ബാങ്കിങ് കോഡ്: EUR). യൂണിയനിലെ യൂറോസോൺ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന 20 അംഗരാജ്യങ്ങളിലാണ് ഈ കറൻസി ഉപയോഗിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഓസ്ട്രിയ, ബെൽജിയം, സൈപ്രസ്, എസ്റ്റോണിയ, ഫിൻലാന്റ്, ഫ്രാൻസ്, ജെർമനി, ഗ്രീസ്, അയർലാന്റ്, ഇറ്റലി, ലാത്‌വിയ, ലക്സംബർഗ്, മാൾട്ട, നെതർലന്റ്സ്, പോർചുഗൽ, സ്ലൊവീന്യ, സ്ലോവാക്യ, സ്പെയിൻ എന്നിവയാണാ രാജ്യങ്ങൾ. ഔദ്യോഗിക ഉടമ്പടികളോടെ മറ്റ് അഞ്ച് രാജ്യങ്ങളും (മയോട്ടെ, മൊണാക്കോ, സാൻ മറീനോ, സെയിന്റ് പിയറെ ആന്റ് മിക്വലോൺ, വത്തിക്കാൻ സിറ്റി) ഉടമ്പടികളില്ലാതെതന്നെ ആറ് രാജ്യങ്ങളും (അക്രോട്ടിരി ആന്റ് ഡെകെയ്‌ല, അണ്ടോറ, കൊസോവൊ, മൊണ്ടിനെഗ്രോ) യൂറോ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. 32 കോടി യൂറോപ്യൻ ജനങ്ങളുടെ ഒരേയൊരു കറൻസിയാണിത്.^[1] യൂറോയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുത്തി മൂല്യം നിശ്ചയിക്കുന്ന് കറൻസികൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയാൽ ലോകവ്യാപകമായി ഏകദേശം 50 കോടി ജനങ്ങൾ യൂറോ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.^[2] 2006 ഡിസംബറിലെ കണക്കുകളനുസരിച്ച് €61000 കോടിയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ മൊത്തവിനിമയം (ആ സമയത്തെ US$80200 കോടിക്ക് തുല്യം).^[3]
