അഡോറേഷൻ ഓഫ് ദി മാഗി ഒരു ടോണ്ടോ അഥവാ വൃത്താകൃതിയിലുള്ള പെയിന്റിംഗാണ്. 1492-ൽ ഫ്ലോറൻസിലെ പാലാസോ മെഡിസി റിക്കാർഡിയിൽഫ്രാ ഏഞ്ചലിക്കോ ചിത്രീകരിച്ചതായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പതിനഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ മധ്യത്തോടെ ആരംഭിച്ച ഈ ചിത്രം ഇപ്പോൾ വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ ഡി.സിയിലെനാഷണൽ ഗാലറി ഓഫ് ആർട്ടിലാണ്. ഫിലിപ്പോ ലിപ്പി യഥാർത്ഥ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ കൂടുതൽ വരച്ചതായും കുറച്ച് വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം മറ്റ് കലാകാരന്മാർ ഈ ചിത്രം ചേർത്തുവെന്നും ഒറിജിനൽ മാസ്റ്റേഴ്സിന്റെ വർക്ക് ഷോപ്പുകളിൽ സഹായികളുടെ സൃഷ്ടികൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയതായും മിക്ക കലാചരിത്രകാരന്മാരും കരുതുന്നു. ഒരു മുൻ ഉടമയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ഈ ചിത്രം വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ ടോണ്ടോ എന്നും കുക്ക് ടോണ്ടോ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. പെയിന്റിംഗ് കുക്ക് ശേഖരത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തുപോയി 50 വർഷത്തിലേറെയായിട്ടും ഈ പേരിന്റെ ഉപയോഗം തുടരുന്നു.[1]
ഒരു മരം പാനലിൽ ടെമ്പറയിൽ ടോണ്ടോ വരച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. പെയിന്റ് ചെയ്ത ഉപരിതലത്തിന് 137.3 സെന്റിമീറ്റർ വ്യാസമുണ്ട് (54 1/16 ഇഞ്ച്). നാഷണൽ ഗാലറി ഓഫ് ആർട്ട് "c. 1440/1460" എന്ന് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ തീയതി കണക്കാക്കുന്നു.[2]
ഗണനീയമായ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ പെയിന്റിംഗ് നിർമ്മിച്ചതായി കലാചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു. രചനയിൽ കാര്യമായ മാറ്റങ്ങളും നിരവധി കൈകളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള സംഭാവനകളും കാണാം. നാഷണൽ ഗാലറി ഓഫ് ആർട്ടിന്റെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഡയറക്ടറായ ജോൺ വാക്കറിനായി ഈ ചരിത്രം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച പൊരുത്തക്കേടുകളെ ചിലർ വിമർശിക്കുന്നു.[3]
