അറ്റ്ലസ് (ഗ്രീക്ക് പുരാണം)
ഗ്രീക്ക് പുരാണത്തിൽ ടൈറ്റൻ പുരാണത്തിൽ ആദിയിൽ ഭൂമിയെ താങ്ങി നിർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദേവനാണ്‌ “‘അറ്റ്ലസ്”’(; പുരാതന ഗ്രീക്ക്: Ἄτλας).ഇന്ന് അറ്റ്ലസ് വിവിധ സ്ഥലങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.വടക്ക്-പടിഞ്ഞാറ്‌ ആഫ്രിക്ക്(ഇന്നത്തെ മൊറോക്കോ),അൾജീരിയ,ടുണീഷ്യ തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ അറ്റ്ലസ് പർവതം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു[1].ഈപെറ്റുസ് പുരാണത്തിലും ഏഷ്യൻ പുരാണത്തിലും ക്ലൈമെനെ പുരാണത്തിലും ടൈറ്റന്റെ മകനാണ്‌ അറ്റ്ലസ്]][2] [3].പ്രാചീന കവിയായ ഹെസോ‍ീഡിന്റെ രചനകളിൽ ഭൂമിയുടെ രണ്ടറ്റവും താങ്ങി നിർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതറ്റ്ലസാണ്‌[4]
