കടുംനീലി പാറ്റപിടിയനെ^{[2] [3][4][5]} ആംഗലത്തിൽ ultramarine flycatcher എന്നും white-browed blue flycatcher എന്നും പറയുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Ficedula superciliaris എന്നാണ്.

ഹിമാലയത്തിന്റെ അടിവാരത്തുള്ള കുന്നുകളിൽ പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. താണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് തെക്കെഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് ദേശാടനം നടത്തുന്നു.

വേനൽക്കാലത്ത് പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ വർഗ്ഗം, ജമ്മു കാശ്മീർ, ഹിമചൽ പ്രദേശ്, ഉത്തരഖണ്ഡ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഹിമാലയത്തിലേക്ക് സന്ദർശനം നടത്താറുണ്ട്. കിഴക്കൻ വർഗ്ഗം( aestigma) കിഴക്കൻ ഹിമലയത്തിൽ ഭൂട്ടാൻ, മുതൽ അരുണാചൽ പ്രദേശ് വരെ കാണുന്നു.കിഴക്കൻ വർഗ്ഗം ദേശാടനം നടത്താറില്ല. 2000-2700 മീ ഉയരമുള്ള പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ സാധാരണയായി പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. 1800- 3200 മീ വര കാണാറുമുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ മേഘാലയയുടെ ഉഅയരം കുറഞ്ഞ കുന്നുകൾ, നാഗാലാന്റ്, ഖാസി കുന്നുകൾ, കച്ചാർ കുന്നുകൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും കാണുന്നു. ഇവ മൂന്നമതൊരു വർഗ്ഗമാണെന്നു കരുതുന്നു..^[6]

10 .സെമീ വലിപ്പമുള്ള ചെറിയ പക്ഷിയാണ്. പൂവന് മുകൾഭാഗം, തലയുടെ വശങ്ങൾ, കഴുത്ത് എന്നിവ കടുത്ത നീല നിറമാണ്. കഴുത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യഭാഗം തൊട്ട് വയറിന്റെ ഭാഹം വരെ നീളുന്ന തിരിച്ചറിയാവുന്ന വെളുത്ത വരയുണ്ട്. പുരികത്തിലേയും വാലിലേയും വെള്ളനിറത്തിന് വർഗ്ഗങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽ വ്യത്യാസമുണ്ട്.

പ്രാണികളാണ് പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം.

ഏപ്രിൽ മുതൽ ജൂലൈ വരെയാണ് പ്രജനന കാലം. ഏഴുമീറ്റർ ഉയരത്തിൽ മരങ്ങളുടെ പോടുകളിൽ പുല്ലുകൾ, നാരുകൾ, നനുത്ത വേരുകൾ കൊണ്ടുല്ല കൂടാണ് ഒരുക്കുന്നത്. ഇളം പച്ച നിറമോ കല്ലിന്റെ മങ്ങിയ നിറമോ ഉള്ള 3-5 മുട്ടകൾ ഇടുന്നു.
