• There are number (at least 30) of plants with specific name hookeri and hookeriana Many of them are named in honour of Joseph Dalton Hooker. Including; Banksia hookeriana, Grevillea hookeriana, Iris hookeriana, Polygonatum hookeri, and Sarcococca hookeriana.^[7][8]

2017 marks 200 years since Hooker's birth. The events marking this anniversary include:

• The Making of Modern Botany at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew includes an exhibition of his photography, journals and art work in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art. As well as examples of transcriptions of Hooker's letters by Harvard Students.^[9]
