ਕਾਮ

ਕਾਮ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਚੋਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ^[1] ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਸਿੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ^[2]

ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ^[3] ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਵਿਆਹੁਤਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਧਾਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ , ਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਅਧਿਆਤਮਿਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਘਨ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੈਤਿਕ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ^{[4] [5]} ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਜੀਵ-ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਖਿਅਤ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ-ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ^[6]

ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਿਮਨਲਿਖਤ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ: ^[4]

"O Kaam, you send men to hell and make them wander through myriad wombs. You cheat all minds; sway all the three worlds; and vanquish one's all austerities, meditation and culture. Your pleasures are illusory; you make men unsteady and weak; and punish the high and the low alike." (Guru Granth Sahib)
