Satdeep JEE ! You have started bullying here also , you have removed points raised by me from draft and got started voting even before.voting is last resort first a draft has to be proposed to community , amendment to draft should be invited first so that everyone gets a chance in policy framing, and then voting should be permitted , this is no way to frame a policy. In such situation only extension of existing administrators should be sought , let new administrators frame this policy. Policies are not made in such haste . Due time for draft amendment should be given . Wiki is not monopoly of one or two administrators. Let other administrators also review the draft.in wiki I am telling again and again weightage is to points and aspects. How many new aspects are coming to an issue should be first considered all issues while making a policy.Your such action is against established wiki norms.I am writing in English because these aspects are important from wider angle .--Guglani
I just wanted to say that becoming a sysop is *not a big deal*.
I think perhaps I'll go through semi-willy-nilly and make a bunch of people who have been around for awhile sysops. I want to dispel the aura of "authority" around the position. It's merely a technical matter that the powers given to sysops are not given out to everyone.
I don't like that there's the apparent feeling here that being granted sysop status is a really special thing.
My comments are not a personal attack. These describe only manner in which you are acting about important issues such as policies.
No time frame and opportunity is being given to think and amend the draft proposed by you. Rather any amendments done by me are removed from draft and put at a separate place suggesting me that I should invite separate voting for my amendment .
My Suggestion to get voting and discussion done, clause wise or aspect wise , is just brushed aside saying voting on my draft is already started/ done. That should be implemented first and then any amendments to policy can be done any time.
Inordinate Haste has been shown in putting draft to vote.
Is this manner adopted for policy making according to established wiki norms
I have many suggestions about various aspects proposed by you, e.g. even to keep those users who have remained active consecutively say one month during anytime since registration , so that users who are very useful to project, have elegant editing history and possess good administration capabilities , get opportunity to become/ remain administrators and not barred by any aspect of your proposals.--Guglani
Any Policy for making request for Administrators ,makes existing administrators more powerful by empowering to reject an aspirant for administrator ,on this basis , because administrator is policy enforcing agent of wikimedia foundation. We have to be careful in each clause of any policy , there should be no ambiguity of words to make the task of administrator easy and transparent.for example ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਗਰਮ active since at least three months means ' user while applying for administrator has registered at least three months before and has become active by making a single edit at least three months or 90 days before, whereas ਤਿੰਨ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਰਿਹਾ remained continuously active for three months means ' in each 7 day span of those three months when he remained continuously active , user has made at least one edit'. That is why I asked Satdeep to explain term ਸਰਗਰਮ in scope of policy.Further a tool should be made available to all users to know which users are eligible for administrator so that need for rejection by administrator does not arise. Mock tool should be made available during discussion and remain available after issuing policy so that creditability of policy can be tested by any user for himself or anybody else and suitability of three months or any time term can be ascertained in specific relation to punjabi Wikipedia. This type of discussion and improvements are needed for each clause of Policy before effecting it.Meanwhile status quo should prevail.Regarding relaxation to policies while enforcement on new user, I would say once made , to relax policies , will invite more controversies than controversies that policies are supposed to solve against arbitrary actions of administrators.Better it is within policies itself due care should be taken for making provisions for new users ,rather than compromising policies for the sake of them.--Guglani
aim in policy making should be arriving at consensus to make it There should be no hurry that only comments are invited for one week, one week or ten days may be guide lines as most comments normally come within this period , but if discussion prolongs then good consesus is which is reached when no comments are coming for one week / ten days or so after last comment is registered.question of voting required then can be decided, may be voting is not required at all if consesus is reached . Even consesus can be ratified by asking for supporting signatures to draft. Please ensure no hurry. In addition I have added tittle to draft put by you, please take note.--Guglani
In main stanza of Policy following should be incorporated after title:
as per referred statistics, no. of very active users vary every month, e.g. In 2015 itself it was during Jan -5, March -6, June- 4, Sep -6, Nov -11.How can one say it is a wise criteria?Figure is not always increasing but it is random.Further Can you make it clear that it is main space edits only or all type of edits for this criteria.
can you tell , keeping your above proposals , which user names shall be eligible to become administrators ?
for such a policy of limiting administrator rights, eligibility to apply, to a few users say 4 ,6 or 11 or any such out of 92 or so ( I do not know exact count one may actually count and tell) active users [2] at punjabi wiki.I will prefer no such policy.--Guglani

you should surround Each clause with ==== 4 equal signs making it a wiki numbered clause so that ,separate improvements , clause wise can be suggested if your proposals only are to be considered in draft. Then each clause should be put to vote separately , for such a policy of limiting administrator rights, eligibility to apply, to a few users say 4 ,6 or 11 or any such out of 92 or so ( I do not know exact count one may actually count and tell) active users [2] at punjabi wiki.I will prefer no such policy.
Considering your suggested criteria , it seems many of your old users even administrators who had contributed a lot to punjabi wiki , who are very knowledgable about wiki software and very useful to the project with excellent qualities will not remain eligible to be administrator because they are not so to say very very active in a particular month span for an intermittent period. Because wiki is a voluntary contribution , some may be very active some time others may be other time in a year, because of other life time activities may not remain very active for all months. they should not be deprived to become administrator by such policy.--Guglani
As many of you know, January 15 is Wikipedia’s 15th Birthday!
People around the world are getting involved in the celebration and have started adding their events on Meta Page. While we are celebrating Wikipedia's birthday, we hope that all projects and affiliates will be able to utilize this celebration to raise awareness of our community's efforts.
Haven’t started planning? Don’t worry, there’s lots of ways to get involved. Here are some ideas:
Join/host an event. We already have more than 80, and hope to have many more.
Design a Wikipedia 15 logo. In place of a single icon for Wikipedia 15, we’re making dozens. Add your own with something fun and representative of your community. Just use the visual guide so they share a common sensibility.
Share a message on social media. Tell the world what Wikipedia means to you, and add #wikipedia15 to the post. We might re-tweet or share your message!

CIS-A2K is going to organize an edit-a-thon between 25 and 31 January this year. The aim of this edit-a-thon is creating an improving Geographical Indications in India related articles.
The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has launched a consultation to help create and prioritize WMF strategy beginning July 2016 and for the 12 to 24 months thereafter. This consultation will be open, on Meta, from 18 January to 26 February, after which the Foundation will also use these ideas to help inform its Annual Plan. (More on our timeline can be found on that Meta page.)
Apologies for English, where this is posted on a non-English project. We thought it was more important to get the consultation translated as much as possible, and good headway has been made there in some languages. There is still much to do, however! We created m:2016 Strategy/Translations to try to help coordinate what needs translation and what progress is being made. :)
If you have questions, please reach out to me on my talk page or on the strategy consultation's talk page or by email to mdennis@wikimedia.org.
Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon 2016 has started, if you have not signed up still, please consider joining now.

Ideas
Please report the articles you are creating or expanding here. It'll be difficult for us to count or review articles unless you report it.
My name is Erica, and I am a Community Liaison at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm here to let you know that the visual editor is coming to editors at this Wikipedia soon. It allows people to edit Wikipedia articles as if they were using word processing software.
You don't have to wait until the deployment to test it; you can test the visual editor right now. To turn it on, select "ਬੀਟਾ" in your preferences. Choose "ਵਿਜ਼ੁਅਲ ਐਡੀਟਰ" and click save. When it is enabled, you will press the "ਸੋਧੋ" button to edit an article in the new software. To use the wikitext editor, you can press "ਸਰੋਤ ਸੋਧੋ".
After the deployment, everyone will automatically have the option to use either the visual editor or the current wikitext editor. For more information about how to use the visual editor, see mw:Help:VisualEditor/User guide.
It's easier to add templates if you've added TemplateData information.
Please help translate the user interface and pages about the visual editor. See the visual editor's TranslationCentral for general information. To translate the user guide, go to the MediaWiki.org page, and select "ਇਸ ਸਫ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਤਰਜਮਾ ਕਰੋ". Your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've done this, you'll see the document in English, side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or change old translations. To translate the user interface, you need to create an account at translatewiki.net. Contact me personally if you need help with that.
In spite of my putting tick on visual editor in beta , visual editor was not invoked. Can somebody tell me correct procedure so that we can try this?--Guglani
It isn't supposed to be available on all the namespaces. As it's not a discussion system, it's not enabled on namespaces like talk ones, or pages where discussions are hosted such as the village pumps.
This is a reminder that the visual editor is coming to all editors at this Wikipedia soon. As of this writing, the team is not aware of any issues specific to this language that should prevent the new software to be deployed here; therefore, please do let us know if you find any problems instead. You can report issues in Phabricator, the new bug tracking system or on the central feedback page on MediaWiki.org. There is a short guide at mediawiki.org that you can follow (as if it was a "checklist") to learn about the community work necessary to adapt the visual editor, and its referencing system in particular, to your community's needs.
If you can translate from English into this wiki's language, or know anyone who can, please follow the links below; just a little effort is required to make this language progress toward translations' completion! You'll help your community get the best possible experience when it comes to interface messages and documentation related to the visual editor.
After you click on any links, your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones. The interface is hosted at https://translatewiki.net; you'll need an account if you never translated there before. The other pages are at Mediawiki.org, for which you can use your regular Wikipedia account. You're welcome to contact me personally whenever you need help.
