Greetings! Wishing you a very happy new year!

We have an update for the next steps of the Movement Strategy! We're preparing for a final round of community conversations with Wikimedia affiliates and online communities around a synthesized set of draft recommendations to start around late/mid January. In the meantime, recommendations’ writers and strategy team has been working on integrating community ideas and feedback into these recommendations. Thank you, for all of your contributions!

The recommendations writers have been working to consolidate the 89 recommendations produced by the working groups. They met in Berlin a few weeks back for an in-person session to produce a synthesized recommendations document which will be shared for public comment around late/mid January. A number of common areas for change were reflected in the recommendations, and the writers assessed and clustered them around these areas. The goal was to outline the overall direction of the change and present one set that is clearly understood, implementable and demonstrates the reasoning behind each.

We will be reaching out to you to help engage your affiliate in discussing this new synthesized version. Your input in helping us refine and advance key ideas will be invaluable, and we are looking forward to engaging with you for a period of thirty days from late/mid January. Our final consultation round is to give communities a chance to "review and discuss" the draft recommendations, highlighting areas of support and concern as well as indicating how your community would be affected.

Please share ideas on how you would like to meet and discuss the final draft recommendations when they are released near Mid January whether through your strategy salons, joining us at global and regional events, joining online conversations, or sending in notes from affiliate discussions. We couldn't do this without you, and hope that you will enjoy seeing your input reflected in the next draft and final recommendations. This will be an opportunity for the movement to review and respond to the recommendations before they are finalized.

If possible, we'd love if you could feature a discussion of the draft recommendations at the next in-person meeting of your affiliate, ideally between the last week of January and the first week of February. If not, please let us know how we can help support you with online conversations and discussing how the draft recommendations fit with the ideas shared at your strategy salon (when applicable).

The input communities have shared so far has been carefully documented, analyzed, and folded into the synthesized draft recommendations. Communities will be able to see footnotes referencing community ideas. What they share again in January/February will be given the same care, seriousness, and transparency.

This final round of community feedback will be presented to the Board of Trustees alongside the final recommendations that will be shared at the Wikimedia Summit.

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc. ) was adopted by global community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis with no inactivity policy. To the best of our knowledge, your wiki does not have a formal process for removing "advanced rights" from inactive accounts. This means that the stewards will take care of this according to the admin activity review.

We have determined that the following users meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for more than 2 years):

1. Babanwalia (administrator)

These users will receive a notification soon, asking them to start a community discussion if they want to retain some or all of their rights. If the users do not respond, then their advanced rights will be removed by the stewards.

However, if you as a community would like to create your own activity review process superseding the global one, want to make another decision about these inactive rights holders, or already have a policy that we missed, then please notify the stewards on Meta-Wiki so that we know not to proceed with the rights review on your wiki. The launch of our final round of community conversation is finally here! We are excited to have the opportunity to invite you to take part. 
The recommendations have been published! Please take time over the next five weeks to review and help us understand how your organization and community would be impacted.

What Does This Mean?

The core recommendations document has now been published on Meta in Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, and Spanish. This is the result of more than a year of dedicated work by our working groups, and we are pleased to share the evolution of their work for your final consideration. 
In addition to the recommendations text, you can read through key documents such as Principles, Process, and the Writer’s Reflections, which lend important context to this work and highlight the ways that the recommendations are conceptually interlinked.
We also have a brief Narrative of Change [5] which offers a summary introduction to the recommendations material. 

How Is My Input Reflected In This Work?

Community input played an important role in the drafting of these recommendations. The core recommendations document reflects this and cites community input throughout in footnotes. I also encourage you to take a look at our community input summaries. These texts show a further analysis of how all of the ideas you shared last year through online conversations, affiliate meetings, and strategy salons connect to recommendations. Many of the community notes and reports not footnoted in the core recommendations document are referenced here as evidence of the incredible convergence of ideas that have brought us this far.  

What Happens Now?

Affiliates, online communities, and other stakeholders have the next five weeks to discuss and share feedback on these recommendations. In particular, we’re hoping to better understand how you think they would impact our movement - what benefits and opportunities do you foresee for your affiliate, and why? What challenges or barriers would they pose for you? Your input at this stage is vital, and we’d like to warmly invite you to participate in this final discussion period.

We encourage volunteer discussion co-ordinators for facilitating these discussions in your local language community on-wiki, on social media, informal or formal meet ups, on-hangouts, IRC or the village pump of your project. Please collect a report from these channels or conversations and connect with me directly so that I can be sure your input is collected and used. Alternatively, you can also post the feedback on the meta talk pages of the respective recommendations.

After this five week period, the Core Team will publish a summary report of input from across affiliates, online communities, and other stakeholders for public review before the recommendations are finalized. You can view our updated timeline here as well as an updated FAQ section that addresses topics like the goal of this current period, the various components of the draft recommendations, and what’s next in more detail.

Content translation has been successful in supporting the translation process on many Wikipedia communities, and we want to help additional wikis with potential to grow using translation as part of a new initiative.

Content translation facilitates the creation of Wikipedia articles by translating content from other languages. It has been used already to create more than half a million articles. In addition, the tool provides mechanisms to encourage the creation of good quality content, preventing the publication of lightly edited machine translations. In general, our analysis shows that the translations produced are less likely to be deleted than the articles started from scratch.

Punjabi editors have used Content translation to create more than two thousand articles during the last year. Articles created with the tool have a very low deletion ratio (0.7%) compared to the usual deletions of new pages created without Content translation (about 10% of deletions). Content translation seems already established as a common and reliable way to contribute for Punjabi. Translation can help the community to reduce the language gap with other languages and grow the number of editors in a sustainable way. In order to achieve this goal, we want to collaborate with you to make Content translation more visible in the Punjabi Wikipedia and support new ways to translate.

As a first step, during the next weeks we plan to enable Content translation by default on Punjabi Wikipedia. That will make it easy for users to discover the tool through several entry points. However, users not interested in translation will still be able to disable it from their preferences.

ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਚਰਚਾ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ -

ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ Contact Persons ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਇਸ ਸਵਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਈ। ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ ਡੇਢ ਸਾਲ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਓਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਸੋ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ, ਵਿਕੀਸੋਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਆਊਟਰੀਚ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਪੰਜ ਟਾਪ ਦੇ contributors ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ contribution ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਕੱਢ ਲਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਓਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ contact person ਬਣਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਆਪੱਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸੱਥ ਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੱਥ ਉੱਪਰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ-ਦੋ ਨਾਮ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਲਿਖਣਗੇ। ਮੰਨ ਲਓ ਕਿ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਟਾਪ ਦੇ contributors ਨੇ ਕਹਿ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਹ 2 ਬੰਦੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਐਕਟਿਵ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਰਨ... ਸੋ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੱਥ ਉੱਪਰ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ contact persons ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਆਪਾਂ 3 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ contact persons ਚੁਣ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। Satpal ਅਤੇ Charan Gill ਜੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ contact persons ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦਾ community advocate ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਚਰਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਜੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਤਰਾਂ ਰੀੜ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ movement ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਆਪਾਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਇੱਕ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਵੀ ਕਰਵਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਜੁੜਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕਾਰ ਵੀ ਇਸਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣਨ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਮਨਾਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ Women Camp ਅਤੇ Syberthon ਇਵੇੰਟ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਮਾਨਵ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਦੇ ਇਵੇੰਟ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਦਦ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਲਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ। ਨਿਤਿਸ਼ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਜਰੂਰ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ। ਸਤਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਖ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਪਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਇਸਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਫਰਕ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਚਰਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ personally ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਬਤਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ 3 ਲੋਕ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਵੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਲਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਜੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਸਲਾ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਉਹ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ participants ਨੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਸ਼ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸੱਥ ਉੱਪਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਵੱਲੋ ਜਰੂਰ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ। ਜਗਸੀਰ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ Wikimedia Strategy ਬਾਰੇ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ update ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਸੱਥ ਤੇ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਬਾਰੇ participants ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅੱਜ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਨਿਤੇਸ਼ ਗਿੱਲ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੀ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਜਦੋ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਟਾਈਗਰ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਓਹਨਾ ਦੇ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਕਹਿਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਕੁਝ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਸੋ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਮੱਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਦੋ ਜਰੂਰਤ ਹੋਵੇ। ਸੰਖੇਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੁਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਇਹ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਤਪਾਲ, ਫਰਵਰੀ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ Contact Persons ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੱਥ ਉੱਪਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨਵ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦੱਸੇ ਗਏ ਈਵੈਂਟਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਕੀ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਆਪਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੀਏ। ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਫਰਵਰੀ 2020 ਵਿੱਚ offline meeting ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ

ਸਮੂਹ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਤੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ actively ਕੰਮ ਕਰੀਏ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਕਦਮ ਹੈ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਨਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਬੜਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਚਰਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਲਦੀ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਤਿੰਨ ਨਾਂ ਸੁਝਾਉਣਾ  ਚਾਹੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹਨ- ਚਰਨ ਗਿੱਲ, ਨਿਤੇਸ਼ ਗਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਪਾਲ। ਚਰਨ ਗਿੱਲ ਜੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੇ ਮੋਢੀ ਹਨ, ਨਿਤੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ Gender Gap reduce ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮੋਢੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ Community Advocate ਵਜੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ representative ਦਾ active ਰਹਿਣਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (+1Name) ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਤ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰੋ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸੁਝਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋੜੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ (+1) ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਦੇਵੋ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫਰਵਰੀ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮਰਥ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ, ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸੁਝਾਵ, ਸੁਆਲ ਜਾਂ ਅਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Hello everyone,

We have been working on GLAM Wiki Project with government institutions of Punjab along with our community, a partnership we have maintained over the last year with numerous meetings with the officials.

This year, like last year, we are putting a project grant proposed by Open Heritage Foundation in 2020 round. We have successfully completed the 2019 project and are now moving forward with the second phase of the project which has now grown in scale with a non profit that we have built and grown over the past year.
Open Heritage Foundation is a non-profit based in India that works on focussed GLAM initiatives in alignment with Wikimedia's strategic direction.

This project is a Glam wiki project centered around Community growth supported by the GLAM partnerships for content generation, Integration with Community engagement around Wikisource and Wikidata, Wikipedia integration via the new tools we are creating in this project grant and the last and one of the crucial elements of the project is improving and expanding the readership scale for Wikisource project.

We will also be supporting other Communities via our micro grants and skill sharing knowledge pool that we have collected and grown over the years.

We lack adequate sources for citations for curating local encyclopedia content. To improve that, we need projects like these to generate that data so we can document our local knowledge with adequate sources to support that work, similar to the oral wiki project idea that talks about covering the indigenous knowledge sources with non traditional sources of information and knowledge creation.

The Editing team has been working on the talk pages project. The goal of the talk pages project is to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. This project is the result of the Talk pages consultation 2019.

The team is building a new tool for replying to comments now. This early version can sign and indent comments automatically. Please test the new Reply tool.

• On 31 March 2020, the new ਜਵਾਬ tool was offered as a Beta Feature editors at four Wikipedias: Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian. If your community also wants early access to the new tool, contact User:Whatamidoing (WMF).
• The team is planning some upcoming changes. Please review the proposed design and share your thoughts on the talk page. The team will test features such as:
  • an easy way to mention another editor ("pinging"),
  • a rich-text visual editing option, and
  • other features identified through user testing or recommended by editors.

As COVID-19 has forced the Wikimedia communities to stay at home and like many other affiliates, CIS-A2K has decided to suspend all offline activities till 15th September 2020 (or till further notice). I present to you for an online training session for future coming months. The CIS-A2K have conducted a Online Indic Wikisource Proofreadthon to enrich our Indian classic literature in digital format.

WHAT DO YOU NEED

• Booklist: a collection of books to be proofread. Kindly help us to find some classical literature your language. The book should not be available in any third party website with Unicode formatted text. Please collect the books and add our event page book list.

• Participants: Kindly sign your name at Participants section if you wish to participant this event.

• Reviewer: Kindly promote yourself as administrator/reviewer of this proofreadthon and add your proposal here. The administrator/reviewers could participate in this Proofreadthon.

• Some social media coverage: I would request to all Indic Wikisource community member, please spread the news to all social media channel, we always try to convince it your Wikipedia/Wikisource to use their SiteNotice. Of course, you must also use your own Wikisource site notice.

• Some awards: There may be some award/prize given by CIS-A2K.

ਮੈਂ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਲੇਖ “ਅਮਰਜੀਤ ਚੰਦਨ” ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕੀ ਕਾਮਨਜ਼ 'ਤੇ ਅਪਡੇਟ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਚੰਦਨ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਰੀਆ ‘ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ’ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਕਿਰਤ ਨਾਮੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਚੰਦਨ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 500 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ voulnteerly ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਪਾਦਕ ਲਈ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਕਾਰਜ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਚੰਦਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਫੋਟੋਆਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਹਾਮੀ ਭਰੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ “ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਯੂ.ਕੇ.” ਨਾਲ ਸੱਤਦੀਪ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਲਈ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਹੁਣ “ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਯੂ.ਕੇ” ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਲਈ ਗ੍ਰਾਂਟ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲਚਸਪੀ ਦਿਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਖ਼ੁਬੀ ਨਿਭਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਫੋਟੋਗ੍ਰਾਫਰ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਸਤਪਾਲ ਤੇ ਨਿਤੇਸ਼ (ਬਤੌਰ contect person) ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤਦੀਪ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ “MOU” ਨੂੰ ਸਾਈਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਵਾਲ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਛੇਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਣ। ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੌਰ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਜੇਕਰ ਵਰਤਾਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਛੇਤੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਗਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂਗੇ। MOU 'ਤੇ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜਲਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

Greetings! We are pleased to inform that the 2030 movement strategy recommendations have been published on Meta-wiki. Over the last two years, our movement has worked tirelessly to produce these ideas to change our shared future. Many of you participated in the online conversations, hosted strategy salons, attended regional events, and connected with us in-person at Wikimania. These contributions were invaluable, and will help make our movement stronger for years to come. 

The finished set of 10 recommendations emphasizes many of our core values, such as equity, innovation, safety, and coordination, while tasking us jointly to turn this vision into a reality. These recommendations clarify and refine the previous version, which was published in January this year. They are at a high strategic level so that the ideas are flexible enough to be adapted to different global and local settings and will allow us to navigate future challenges. Along with the recommendations, we have outlined 10 underlying principles, a narrative of change, and a glossary of key terms for better context.

The recommendations are available in numerous languages, including Arabic, German, Hindi, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish for you to read and share widely. We encourage you to read the recommendations in your own time and at your own pace, either online or in a PDF. There are a couple of other formats for you to take a deeper dive if you wish, such as a one-page summary, slides, and office hours, all collected on Meta. If you would like to comment, you are welcome to do so on the Meta talk pages. However, please note that these are the final version of the recommendations. No further edits will be made. This final version of the recommendations embodies an aspiration for how the Wikimedia movement should continue to change in order to advance that direction and meet the Wikimedia vision in a changing world. 

In terms of next steps, our focus now shifts toward implementation. In light of the cancellation of the Wikimedia Summit, the Wikimedia Foundation is determining the best steps for moving forward through a series of virtual events over the coming months. Firstly, to give you context, Small wiki toolkits (SWT) is an initiative to support small wiki communities, to learn and share technical and semi-technical skills to support, maintain, and grow. We are happy to inform you that the SWT group has planned a series of four online workshops for Indic Wikimedia community members during June & July 2020. These workshops have been specifically designed and curated for Indic communities, based on a survey conducted early this year. The four workshops planned in this regard are;

• Understanding the technical challenges of Indic language wikis (by Birgit): Brainstorming about technical challenges faced by contributors to Indic language Wikimedia projects.
• Writing user scripts & gadgets (by Jayprakash12345): Basics to intermediate-level training on writing user scripts (Javascript and jQuery fundamentals are prerequisites).
• Using project management & bug reporting tool Phabricator (by Andre): Introduction to Phabricator, a tool used for project management and software bug reporting.
• Writing Wikidata queries (by Mahir256): Introduction to the Wikidata Query Service, from writing simple queries to constructing complex visualizations of structured data.

• Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature is called "ਚਰਚਾ ਸੰਦ". The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing @. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster now. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months.
• New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
• New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
• Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.

ਰੀਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਸਰਲ ਜਿਹੀ ਦਲੀਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ‘ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ’ ਤੇ ‘ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ’ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਜੁਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੱਚੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵਿਕੀ ਪਾਠਕ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਸੱਜਣ ‘ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ’ ਨਾਲੋਂ ‘ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ’ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਣੂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਸ਼ਾ ਵੀ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਭਲੇ ਤੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਨਿਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਠਜੋੜ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵੀ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਲੈਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵੀ ਜਾਣੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਾਂਲਾਂਕਿ ਉਪਰੋਕਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਪੱਖ ਵੀ ਦੱਸੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਮੈਟਾ ਉੱਪਰ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਇੱਥੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ - ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਦਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੈਅ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਛਿੜੀ ਬਹਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈਆਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਨੀਤੀ, ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਦਾਨੀ-ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਅਜੋਕੇ ਦੌਰ ਵਿਚ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਕੀ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਮੰਡੀ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਕਾਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਾ-ਪੁਸ਼ਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡਆ ਫਾਉਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਵੀ ਉਸੇ ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣਾ ਤੈਅ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਖਰਾਬ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਚਮੁੱਚ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੋ ਹੀ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕਤਾਂਤਰਿਕ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਫਾਉਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾਮੰਦੀ ਜਾਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਤੈਅ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਇਕ ਅਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਜਿਹੀ ਨੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਲਾਭਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੁਝ ਕਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਬਦਲੇ ਜਾਣੇ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲਿਖੇ ਹਨ :

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਾਫੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਅੱਜ ਸਵੇਰ ਦੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਇੱਥੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਵਿਚੋ ਵੀ ਕਲੀਅਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ। ਮਸਲਨ ਆਪਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ‘ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨਜ਼’ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ’ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇਕ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਡ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਡਾ ਇਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਨਾਂ, ਪਛਾਣ, ਬੈਂਕ ਅਕਾਉਂਟ, ਬਲਾਗ/ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਆਦਿ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ। ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਗਾਰੰਟੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਹੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਫੀ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬੈਂਕ ਖਾਤਾ ਵੱਡੀ ਦਿੱਕਤ ਹੈ। ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਗੱਲ ਹੋਈ, ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ ਨੀਤੀ ਇਸ ਦਲੀਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉੱਭਰੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਆਮ ਪਾਠਕ ਤੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਸੱਜਣ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਫਾਉਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਮੰਨ ਲਓ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਗਾ-ਦੇਗਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਵਿਕੀਸੋਰਸ, ਕਾਮਨਜ਼ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਕੀਬੁੱਕਸ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕੀਸੋਰਸ ਦਾ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਫਾਉਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਨੁਮਾਇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਯਕੀਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਬਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੀ। ਬਗੈਰ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁਲਕ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ-ਮੰਤਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਰਪੰਚ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਬਦਲ ਦਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਹੀਏ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੋਊ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਗਾਰੰਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਰਾਂਡਿੰਗ, ਮਹਿਜ਼ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਫਾਉਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਰਜ਼ਾਮੰਦ ਹੋਣ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੱਕ ਹੈ।

This is to invite you to join the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) campaign to help improve Wikipedia articles with photos and win prizes. The campaign starts today 1st July 2020 and closes 31st August 2020.

The campaign primarily aims at using images from Wikimedia Commons on Wikipedia articles that are lacking images. Participants will choose among Wikipedia pages without photo images, then add a suitable file from among the many thousands of photos in the Wikimedia Commons, especially those uploaded from thematic contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Folklore, etc.) over the years.

Since 16 June, the Foundation Brand Team has been running a survey in 7 languages about 3 naming options. There are also community members sharing concerns about renaming in a Community Open Letter.

Our goal in this call for feedback is to hear from across the community, so we encourage you to participate in the survey, the open letter, or both. The survey will go through 7 July in all timezones. Input from the survey and discussions will be analyzed and published on Meta-Wiki.

Seven years ago this month, the Editing team offered the visual editor to most Wikipedia editors. Since then, editors have achieved many milestones:

• More than 50 million edits have been made using the visual editor on desktop.
• More than 2 million new articles have been created in the visual editor. More than 600,000 of these new articles were created during 2019.
• The visual editor is increasingly popular. The proportion of all edits made using the visual editor has increased every year since its introduction.
• In 2019, 35% of the edits by newcomers (logged-in editors with ≤99 edits) used the visual editor. This percentage has increased every year.
• Almost 5 million edits on the mobile site have been made with the visual editor. Most of these edits have been made since the Editing team started improving the mobile visual editor in 2018.
• On 17 November 2019, the first edit from outer space was made in the mobile visual editor. 🚀 👩‍🚀
• Editors have made more than 7 million edits in the 2017 wikitext editor, including starting 600,000 new articles in it. The 2017 wikitext editor is VisualEditor's built-in wikitext mode. You can enable it in your preferences.

As we indicated earlier, because of the ongoing pandemic, we were unsure and currently cannot conduct the on-ground community Project Tiger workshop.

We are at the last phase of this Project Tiger 2.0 and as a part of the online community consultation, we request you to spend some time to share your valuable feedback on the Project Tiger 2.0 writing contest feedback.

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well. This mail is regarding my work as a community advocate and this is a kind of update that what I am doing. Actually I was not doing my scanning work because of COVID-19 and my focus was editathon about Coronavirus on Punjabi Wikipedia and some other work tasks from A2K team like I am working on a research project. So, this is an update that I have started my scanning work now. I am scanning Alochana magazine's editions which were not done and they are rare or important. I am doing this work safely from my place in Patiala, Punjab. I will also try to contact some Punjabi authors to release their content on Punjabi Wikisource.
