Upcoming Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections
The Board of Trustees is preparing a call for feedback about the upcoming Board Elections, from January 7 - February 10, 2022. While details will be finalized the week before the call, we have confirmed at least two questions that will be asked during this call for feedback:

Question about the Affiliates' role for the Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees electionsHello, Thank you to everyone who participated in the Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections so far. The Movement Strategy and Governance team has announced the last key question: How should affiliates participate in elections? Affiliates are an important part of the Wikimedia movement. Two seats of the Board of Trustees due to be filled this year were filled in 2019 through the Affiliate-selected Board seats process. A change in the Bylaws removed the distinction between community and affiliate seats. This leaves the important question: How should affiliates be involved in the selection of new seats? The question is broad in the sense that the answers may refer not just to the two seats mentioned, but also to other, Community- and Affiliate-selected seats. The Board is hoping to find an approach that will both engage the affiliates and give them actual agency, and also optimize the outcomes in terms of selecting people with top skills, experience, diversity, and wide community’s support. The Board of Trustees is seeking feedback about this question especially, although not solely, from the affiliate community. Everyone is invited to share proposals and join the conversation in the Call for Feedback channels. In addition to collecting online feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team will organize several video calls with affiliate members to collect feedback. Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022 (or WMWM2022) was to be conducted from 18 to 20 February 2022 and is postponed now. Currently, we are seeing a new wave of the pandemic that is affecting many people around. Although WMWM is an online event, it has multiple preparation components such as submission, registration, RFC etc which require community involvement. We feel this may not be the best time for extensive community engagement. We have also received similar requests from Wikimedians around us. Following this observation, please note that we are postponing the event, and the new dates will be informed on the mailing list and on the event page. Although the main WMWM is postponed, we may conduct a couple of brief calls/meets (similar to the Stay safe, stay connected call) on the mentioned date, if things go well. Announcing Indic Hackathon 2022 and Scholarship ApplicationsDear Wikimedians, we are happy to announce that the Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group will be organizing Indic Hackathon 2022, a regional event as part of the main Wikimedia Hackathon 2022 taking place in a hybrid mode during 20-22 May 2022. The event will take place in Hyderabad. The regional event will be in-person with support for virtual participation. As it is with any hackathon, the event’s program will be semi-structured i.e. while we will have some sessions in sync with the main hackathon event, the rest of the time will be upto participants’ interest on what issues they are interested to work on. The event page can be seen on this page. In this regard, we would like to invite community members who would like to attend in-person to fill out a form for scholarship application by 17 April, which is available on the event page. Please note that the hackathon won’t be focusing on training of new skills, and it is expected that applications have some experience/knowledge contributing to technical areas of the Wikimedia movement. ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਸਰੋਤ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕ (ਇੰਡੈਕਸ:ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕੈਦਾ - ਚਰਨ ਪੁਆਧੀ) ਸੀਬਾ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਸਾਲ 2020 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕੀਸਰੋਤ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਡੀਓ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਲ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਨੂੰ Punjabi Audiobooks Project ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੋਰਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ) 9 ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੱਸ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਦੇ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਤਹਿਤ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ/ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ/ਈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।  ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਕਾਮਨਜ਼ ਉੱਤੇ Punjabi Audiobooks Project ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਹੈ। ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ 3 ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ Wiki Education Program ਚਲਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਾਖਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਅਜੇ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ WIR ਵਜੋਂ Wiki Education Program ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਿੱਥੇ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਵਰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਇੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਗੌਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ:

The WMF Language team is pleased to let you know that the Section Translation tool is now enabled in Punjabi Wikipedia. It means you can translate real content one section at a time using your mobile devices with ease. Now you can also start translating an article on your mobile device when you notice it is missing in Punjabi. From a Wikipedia article in any language, switch languages and search for ਪੰਜਾਬੀ. If the article does not exist, an option to translate it will appear, as shown in the image below.  We have enabled this tool in your Wikipedia after communicating our intentions to enable it and there was no objections. This tool will be useful for your community since data shows significant mobile device activity in ਪੰਜਾਬੀ Wikipedia. The contest started on 16 March on the occasion of World Water Week and received a good response from citizens as well as organisations working on river issues. Taking into consideration the feedback from the volunteers and organisations about extending the deadline of 16 April, the organisers have decided to extend the contest till 16 May 2022. Some leading organisations have also shown interest in donating their archive and need a sufficient time period for the process. We are still mainly using these topics which are mentioned below.
Anyone can participate still now, so, we appeal to all Wikimedians to contribute to this campaign to enrich river-related content on Wikimedia Commons. The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021 Wikimedia Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017. Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were represented in the election. There were a total of 74 wikis that did not participate in 2017 that produced voters in the 2021 election. Can you help increase the participation even more?
