Greetings! CIS-A2K has started the Mula Mutha Nadi Darshan 2022 campaign cum photography contest on Wikimedia Commons from 15 May to 30 June. The aim of the contest is to document the Mula & Mutha rivers along with their tributaries in the Pune district on Wikimedia Commons in the form of images and videos. You can see more specific topics in the Rivers and Topics section. In this campaign, partner organisations like, Jeevitnadi, Ecological Society, Samuchit Enviro Tech, Nisarg Sevak, National Society for Clean Cities etc. are actively participating.

We are excited to announce the launch of the A2K Monthly Engagement Call, a series of interactive sessions aimed at fostering collaborative learning within the Wikimedia community. The motive behind starting the series of interactive sessions is to bring the community together to discuss and interact about important topics. The first Monthly Engagement call will start with Let’s Connect which is an initiative to create an open and safe learning space for all Wikimedians to share and learn different skills with other peers and to add value and contribute collectively to the community. The first call in this series, organized and hosted by CIS-A2K, will take place on June 3, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (IST).

One more announcement is about, on June 5, 2023, as we celebrate Environment Day, A2K is planning to engage communities and community members in discussions about potential activities for the month of June. These activities will involve capturing images of the environment, uploading them to Wikimedia Commons, and adding existing photos to articles on Wikipedia. We would love to invite Wikimedians to collaborate and join us in planning this activity on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Hello again! In ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ:ਸੱਥ/ਪੁਰਾਣੀ_ਚਰਚਾ_28#Mass_deletion_of_files_/_ਫਾਈਲਾਂ_ਨੂੰ_ਵੱਡੇ_ਪੱਧਰ_'ਤੇ_ਮਿਟਾਉਣਾ there was a discussion about deleting the ~1,000 files in Category:Non Licensed Images.

As a start admins could help with is to check/delete files in

1. ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ:All Wikipedia files with the same name on Wikimedia Commons
2. ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ:All Wikipedia files with a different name on Wikimedia Commons
3. And all the other relevant categories in ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ:ਛੇਤੀ ਮਿਟਾਉਣਯੋਗ ਸਫ਼ੇ
4. ਖ਼ਾਸ:ਅਣਵਰਤੀਆਂ_ਫ਼ਾਈਲਾਂ (if they have a valid free license perhaps move to Commons instead)

Also as mentioned pa.wiki is not listed on m:Non-free content and it has no page that matches en:Wikipedia:Non-free content. However, there is ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ:Non-free use rationale guideline. There should be a formal policy and Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) to comply with wmf:Resolution:Licensing_policy so perhaps someone (ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ:Satdeep Gill or ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰ:Jagseer S Sidhu perhaps?) could make a formal policy and add it to meta? As a start perhaps either write a short text like

"Punjabi Wikipedia allow Non-free content under the same rules as on English Wikipedia. Therefore en:Wikipedia:Non-free content is to be followed untill a local policy have been translated/created."

We are excited to announce the reactivation of the Train the Trainer (TTT) initiative by CIS-A2K in 2023. TTT aims to empower Indian Wikimedians like you with essential skills to support Wikimedia communities effectively. Through this program, we seek to enhance your capacity, encourage knowledge sharing, identify growth opportunities, and enable a positive impact on the communities you serve. The scholarship application period is from ‘‘‘1st to 14th August 2023’’’. Unfortunately, we regretfully cannot consider applications from non-Indian Wikimedians due to logistical and compliance-related constraints. The event is scheduled for the end of September or the beginning of October 2023, and final dates and venue details will be announced soon. ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਮਿਟ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ। ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀ ਬਰਲਿਨ, ਜਰਮਨੀ ਲਈ ਤੇ ਦੋ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਨੇ ਹਨ। 14 ਅਗਸਤ ਤੱਕ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਤਿੰਨ ਨਾਂ ਤੈਅ ਕਰਨੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠ ਚਾਰ ਨੁਕਤਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ:

2. ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਆਫਲਾਈਨ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ (ਈਵੈਂਟ, ਮੀਟਿੰਗ, ਹੋਰ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਤੇ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ)
3. ਮੂਵਮੈਂਟ ਸਟ੍ਰੈਟੇਜੀ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ (ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਮਿਟ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੂਵਮੈਂਟ ਸਟ੍ਰੈਟੇਜੀ ਹੈ) ਵਧੇਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਲਈ ਮੈਟਾ ਦੇਖੋ। ਇਸ ਸਫ਼ੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਯੂਜ਼ਰ ਗਰੁੱਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਚੁਣਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ (Movement Governance) ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

6. ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ 21ਵੀਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇਗੰਢ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਲੇਖ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਤੰਬਰ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਕਾਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਕਿੰਡ ਗਰਾਂਟੀ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ। ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਪੋਜ਼ਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਯੂਥ ਤੇ ਚਾਈਲਡ ਪਾਲਸੀ ਦਾ ਡਾਕੂਮੈਂਟ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਫਾਰਮ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਲਿੰਕ।

1. ਮੈਂ ਮੂਵਮੈਂਟ ਚਾਰਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਅਬੈਸਡਰ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਬੈਸਡਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਬੈਸਡਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਇਹ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਚਾਰਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਚੈਪਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਨੇ। ਕੁੱਲ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਕਰ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਫਲਾਇਨ ਬੈਠਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਪੋਜ਼ਲ ਲਿਖਣ, ਆਫਲਾਇਨ ਬੈਠਕ ਉਲੀਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਅੰਬੈਸਡਰ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਟਾਸਕ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ। -- Gaurav Jhammat (ਗੱਲ-ਬਾਤ) 04:13, 11 ਅਗਸਤ 2023 (UTC)[ਜਵਾਬ]

ਸਤਸ੍ਰੀਅਕਾਲ ਜੀ, Wikimedia Summit ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ।

ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਨਲਾਇਨ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ। ਮਾਰਚ 2017 ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਦਿਨ ਇੱਕ ਆਰਟੀਕਲ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਤਹਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ‘ਤੇ ਔਰਤ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ, ਮੈਂ ਲੌਕ-ਡਾਉਨ ਵੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਨਲਾਇਨ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਲਸਿਲਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਰਡੀਨੇਟ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਇੱਕ in-person meeting ਵੀ ਗੌਰਵ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਲੀਕੀ ਗਈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਦੀ ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪੋਜਲ ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗੌਰਵ ਤੇ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਫੰਡ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤੰਬਰ ਜਾਂ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। m:Wiki Loves Literature, ਗੌਰਵ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਇੱਕ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਜੋ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕੀਮੇਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ 10 ਮਿੰਟ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਨੂੰ ਸਬਮਿੱਟ ਸਮੇਂ ‘ਤੇ update ਕਰਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਘੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

I used Google translate tool which is quite accurate in translating text from English to punjabi, I want to adjust edit limit for translated text to be able to publish from existing 95% to somewhere 99% both fo paragraphs and overall text for the article.I created a Task no. The event is for everyone who contributes to Wikimedia’s technical spaces code developers, maintainers, translators, designers, technical writers and other related technical aspects. Along with that, contributors who don't necessarily contribute to technical spaces but have good understanding of issues on wikis and can work with developers in addressing them can join too. You can come with a project in mind, join an existing project, or create something new with others. A new feature is coming to your wiki soon: Reference Previews are popups for references. Such popups have existed on wikis as local gadgets for many years. Now there is a central solution, available on all wikis, and consistent with the PagePreviews feature.

Reference Previews will be visible to everyone, including readers. If you don’t want to see them, you can opt out. If you are using the gadgets Reference Tooltips or Navigation Popups, you won’t see Reference Previews unless you disable the gadget.

Reference Previews have been a beta feature on many wikis since 2019, and a default feature on some since 2021. Deployment is planned for November 22.

The Technical Wishes team at Wikimedia Deutschland is planning to make reusing references easier. For our research, we are looking for wiki contributors willing to show us how they are interacting with references.

• The format will be a 1-hour video call, where you would share your screen. More information here.
• Interviews can be conducted in English, German or Dutch.
• Compensation is available.
• Sessions will be held in January and February.
• Sign up here if you are interested.
• Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. The WMF Language team wants to make MinT the default machine translation support in Punjabi Wikipedia Content Translation. MinT uses the IndicTrans2 machine translation model, which recently has a new version.

Our proposal to set MinT as the default machine translation service in this Wikipedia will expose contributors to open source service by default and allow them to switch to other services if they prefer those services. Contributors can decide to switch to another translation service that is not default if they prefer the service, which will be helpful in analysing user preferences in the future.

The WMF Language team is requesting feedback from members of this community in this thread if making the MinT the default translation service is okay in Punjabi Wikipedia. If there are no objections to the above proposal. In that case, MinT will become the default machine translation in this Wikipedia by the 6th of February 2024.

You are humbly invited to organize the Feminism and Folklore 2024 writing competition from February 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024 on your local Wikipedia. This year, Feminism and Folklore will focus on feminism, women's issues, and gender-focused topics for the project, with a Wiki Loves Folklore gender gap focus and a folk culture theme on Wikipedia.

You can help Wikipedia's coverage of folklore from your area by writing or improving articles about things like folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, women and queer folklore figures, folk game athletes, women in mythology, women warriors in folklore, witches and witch hunting, fairy tales, and more. Users can help create new articles, expand or translate from a generated list of suggested articles.

Organisers are requested to work on the following action items to sign up their communities for the project:

1. Create a page for the contest on the local wiki.
2. Set up a campaign on CampWiz tool.
3. Create the local list and mention the timeline and local and international prizes.
4. Request local admins for site notice.
5. Link the local page and the CampWiz link on the meta project page.

This year, the Wiki Loves Folklore Tech Team has introduced two new tools to enhance support for the campaign. These tools include the Article List Generator by Topic and CampWiz. The Article List Generator by Topic enables users to identify articles on the English Wikipedia that are not present in their native language Wikipedia. Users can customize their selection criteria, and the tool will present a table showcasing the missing articles along with suggested titles. Additionally, users have the option to download the list in both CSV and wikitable formats. Notably, the CampWiz tool will be employed for the project for the first time, empowering users to effectively host the project with a jury. Both tools are now available for use in the campaign. Hi. As announced some weeks ago ^{[1] [2]}, Wikimedia Deutschland’s Technical Wishes team introduced Reference Previews to many wikis, including this one. This feature shows popups for references in the article text.

While this new feature is already usable on your wiki, most people here are not seeing it yet because your wiki has set a gadget as the default for previewing references. We plan to remove the default flag from the gadget on your wiki soon. This means:

• The new default for reference popups on your wiki will be Reference Previews.
• However, if you want to keep using the gadget, you can still enable it in your personal settings.

The benefit of having Reference Previews as the default is that the user experience will be consistent across wikis and with the Page Previews feature, and that the software will be easier to maintain overall.

Wikimedia Ukraine, in cooperation with the MFA of Ukraine and Ukrainian Institute, has launched the forth edition of writing challenge "Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month", which lasts from 1st until 31st March 2024. The campaign is dedicated to famous Ukrainian artists of cinema, music, literature, architecture, design and cultural phenomena of Ukraine that are now part of world heritage. We accept contribution in every language! The most active contesters will receive prizes.

The Community Affairs Committee (CAC) of the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees invites you to give feedback on a draft Procedure for Sibling Project Lifecycle. This draft Procedure outlines proposed steps and requirements for opening and closing Wikimedia Sibling Projects, and aims to ensure any newly approved projects are set up for success. This is separate from the procedures for opening or closing language versions of projects, which is handled by the Language Committee or closing projects policy.

Wikimedia Technology Summit (WTS) 2024 is focused on using technology to enhance inclusivity across Wikipedia and its associated projects. We aim to explore strategies for engaging underrepresented communities and languages while also strengthening the technical foundation. By fostering collaboration between developers, users, and researchers, we can unite our efforts to create, innovate, and advance the technology that drives open knowledge.

We invite community members residing in India who are interested in attending WTS 2024 in person to apply for scholarships by July 10, 2024. The summit will be held at IIIT Hyderabad, India, in October 2024.
