Роберт К. Элликсон — американский ученый в области права собственности и иных имущественных прав. Он является профессором Уолтера Э. Мейера в Йельской школе права, а ранее преподавал в Школе права Гулда при Университете Южной Калифорнии и Стэнфордской школе права.^[2] Он является членом Американской академии искусств и наук и бывшим президентом Американской ассоциации права и экономики.

Элликсон — автор многочисленных книг и статей о землепользовании, собственности и социальных нормах, наиболее известен своей книгой 1991 года «Порядок без права: Как соседи разрешают споры».^[3] В этой книге, посвященной исследованию скотоводов и фермеров в округе Шаста, штат Калифорния, он утверждает, что, вопреки теореме Коуза, соседи в близкородственных обществах достигают эффективных результатов в использовании земли и собственности не путем переговоров вокруг юридических норм, а путем их игнорирования в пользу неформальных социальных норм. В 2008 году Элликсон был награжден премией Бригама-Каннера в области прав собственности юридическим колледжем Уильяма и Мэри за его работу по продвижению идеи прав частной собственности.^[4]
