1998 Thurston High School shooting

The Thurston High School shooting was a mass shooting that happened on Thurston High School in Springfield, Oregon on May 21, 1998.[1]

The shooter, 15-year old Kip Kinkel, had killed both of his parents earlier in their house. He then killed 2 students at his school before being arrested.

This shooting, along with the 1992 Lindhurst High School shooting, were the worst high school shootings in modern American history before the Columbine High School massacre. It remained the worst school shooting in Oregonian history before the 2015 Umpqua Community College shooting.
