Internet Message Access Protocol


Internet Message Access Protocol (or IMAP) is a communication protocol, a set of rules that e-mail client programs, like the one in your computer, use to download email from a mail server. An older protocol which does the same thing is called Post Office Protocol but IMAP has additional features.
