நுண்படிவம்

நுண்படிவம் என்பது ஆவணங்களின் படிமங்கள் பதிக்கப்பட்ட ஒளிபுகு தகடுகளாகும். இவை, ஆவணங்களைக் கொண்டுசெல்வதற்கும், சேமித்து வைப்பதற்கும், வாசிப்பதற்கும், அச்சிடுவதற்கும் வசதியானவை. நுண்படிவப் படிமங்கள் பொதுவாக மூல ஆவணங்களிலும் 25 மடங்கு சிறிதாக்கப்பட்டவை. சிறப்புத் தேவைகளுக்காக இதனிலும் கூடிய அளவுக்குச் சிறிதாக்கமுடியும்.

ஒரு நுண்படிவப் படிமம், நேர் (positive) அல்லது எதிர்ப் (negative) படிமமாக இருக்கலாம். வாசிக்கும் கருவிகளிலும், அச்சிடும் இயந்திரங்களிலும் எதிர்ப் படிமங்கள் விரும்பப்படுகின்றன. நுண்படிவங்களில், நுண்சுருள்தகடுகள் (microfilm), நுண்படலங்கள் (microfiche) என இரண்டு வடிவங்கள் உள்ளன.^[1]^[2]^[3]
