A picture of the player, ideally on the pitch in the strip of his most recent team (or the team the player is most well-known for, in the case of retirees). Use the full image syntax, including the [[File:]] markup, a size, and alt text. Do not use the "thumb" or "frame" attributes.

The player's date of birth. A template (வார்ப்புரு:TL, வார்ப்புரு:TL) should be used to add the date, but be sure to use the appropriate parameters to present the date in the same format as used in the text. The date should not be wikilinked.

If including a total number of caps, use {{{totalcaps}}} rather than faking it with a club called "total".

Try to always consider that an infobox exists to support an article and provide a quick synopsis of important facts. This becomes vital when considering that the amount of space available within an infobox is significantly less than that available outside of it.

As per the manual of style entry on linking, years should not be linked as they do not provide much benefit to the user.

As per the manual of style the player's height should be in the units most common within the country he plays. Units should be abbreviated in the infobox and spelt out in the article text. Use standard abbreviations when using symbols such as metre is m, centimetre is cm, inch is in (not " or ″), foot is ft (not ' or ′). Put a non-breaking space ( ) between the value and the unit symbol, for example 1.98 m not 1.98m. Do not append an s for plurals of unit abbreviations. For example, kg, in, yd, lb not kgs, ins, yds, lbs.

Ideally, measurements should be presented using the {{convert}} template, which automatically converts units between formats and handles the presentation of units. In this case, use the |abbr=on flag to ensure that units are presented in their short forms.

Some examples of correct usage:

• 2.00 m
• 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m)
• 1.78 m (5 ft 10 in)

and using {{convert}}:

• {{convert|5|ft|10|in|abbr=on}} produces 5 அடி 10 அங் (1.78 m)
• {{convert|1.78|m|abbr=on}} produces 1.78 m (5 அடி 10 அங்)

If providing a total row for goals scored, enter the Total in a new years column - do not add it in the clubs column.

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database.
