வகைப்படுத்தல் அறிதலின் ஒரு முக்கிய வழிமுறை. அனைத்தையும் இயல்களாக வகுக்கும் பொழுது நாம் உலகை நோக்கி ஒரு புரிதலையும் எமது உலக பார்வையையும் முன்வைக்கின்றோம். இச்செயற்பாடு எம் அறிவுக்கும் தேடல்களுக்கும் ஒரு அடிப்படை அம்சம்.

த.வி வின் வகைப்படுத்தல் தமிழ்ச் சூழமைவுக்கமைய, தமிழர் பின்புலத்தில் இருந்து அறிவியலோடும், இயற்கையோடும், உலக இயல்போடும் ஒத்து கட்டமைக்கப்படுகின்றது. வகைப்படுத்தல் நோக்கி சீரான பகுத்தறிவை நாம் தொடர்ச்சியாக வளர்த்துகொண்டு இச்செயற்பாட்டை நான் முன்னெடுக்கின்றோம்.

Tamil Wikipedia Overview Dilemma

The two central activities in Tamil Wikipedia are articles creation and categorization. We have discussed various aspects of TWpedia categorization. All of us probably agree that there needs to be an overview of all the categories. The simplest solution would be to have the software do that for us, and that is the case with EWpedia. For Tamil Wikipedia, that is case as long as we use the key word “Category”. Recently, we are using the Tamil equivalent word and that seems not to get tracked or accounted for. Thus, the Tamil Wkipedia Category Overview Here is not complete. Our case is explained in the footnote to the listing, which explains that “Category tags that were inserted via a template are not yet recognised.” We should address this issue now, as it might be trouble some to address once the categories multiply to significant numbers. This might not be an issue if the software will be modified in the future to recognize template based categorizes.

Thanks for bringing this to notice that the பகுப்பு tag is unrecognised by the script. So far as i verified the issue seems real. I think that the overview script is written someone outside wikipedia site. We may have to notify him. donno whether registering a bug will help. Sundar may clarify. Otherwise, the problem of categories inserted through templates not recognised is not unique to tamil wikipedia alone. also one has to note that only after creating the category pages manually ( that is just inserting the new category tag in article page is not sufficient. one has to turn the red link into blue link), the script can recoginise it--ரவி 14:35, 7 ஜனவரி 2006 (UTC)

அறிவியல், சமூகம், சமூக அறிவியல்

அறிவியல் (இ.வ. விஞ்ஞானம்) பொதுவாக இயற் விஞ்ஞானத்தையே குறிக்கின்றது. ஆகவே சமூக விஞ்ஞானம் அல்லது சமூக அறிவியலை பிறிம்பாக வகைப்படுத்தல் வேண்டும். சமூத்தற்குள் சமூக அறிவியல் வருமா? அல்லது அறிவியலுக்குள் சமூக அறிவியல் இருப்பது சரியா? அல்லது சமூக அறிவியலுக்குள்/சமூக விஞ்ஞானத்திற்குள் சமூகம் வரவது தகுமா?

Sciences can be classified into the following three types: Natural Sciences (physics, chemistry, biology etc) , Social Sciences (sociology, linguistics etc), and Artificial Sciences (accounting, administration etc). There is also another field that has gained in importance in recent times, that being Earth Sciences, which traditionally came under Natural Sciences, but now seem to be branching off. The Earth Sciences usually includes Geography. I am not sure whether the term that we use in TWpedia corresponds to Earth Sciences or to Geography. Earth Sciences now seem to include subjects such as Geology, Ecology, “biodiversity, energy, environmental health, human development, pollution prevention and recycling, water, globalization, land use, climate change”, and Geography.

In TWpedia the category Sciences usually refers to the Natural Sciences. The Social Sciences are not clearly defined. Also, Business, Law, Politics related items are not clearly categorized as well.

மனிதர்கள் என்ற சொல் Person / people என்ற சொல்லுக்கு சரியான மொழிபெயர்ப்பாக எனக்குத் தோன்றவில்லை. எல்லாரும் மனிதர்கள் தானே ? :) நபர்கள் என்ற சொல், குறிப்பிடத்தக்க மனிதர்கள் என்பது போல் பொருள் தருவதாக எனக்குத் தோன்றியது. மற்றபடி எனக்கு உங்கள் கேள்விக்குத் தெளிவாக விளக்கம் அளிக்க இயலவில்லை. வேண்டுமானால், இது குறித்து மாதிரி பக்கவகைப்படுத்தல் பேச்சுப் பக்கத்தில் அனைவரின் கருத்தையும் அறியலாம்--ரவி 21:55, 21 ஜனவரி 2006 (UTC)

நபர் என்பது அரபுச்சொல். ஓர் ஆளைக்குறிக்க இச்சொல் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. மனிதர் எனும்போது அது விஞ்ஞான ரீதியான சொல்லாக இருக்கிறது. ஆள் என்பதையே பயன்படுத்தலாமே? ஆளுமை என்ற சொல்லின் அடிச்சொல்லும் இந்த ஆள் என்ற சொல் தானே? ஆட்கள் என்று பயன்படுத்தலாம். இல்லாவிட்டால் ஆளுமைகள் நல்ல சொல் --மு.மயூரன் 13:17, 13 ஜூலை 2006 (UTC)

உண்மையில் விக்கிப்பீடியாவில் மற்றங்களைச் செய்யும்போது உரிய கலந்துரையாடல்களின் பின்பே செய்யப்படுவது பொருத்தமானது. அதற்கான வாய்ப்பு இன்மையாலேயே எனக்கு சரியெனப்பட்ட விதத்தில் பகுப்புக்களில் மாற்றங்களைச் செய்தேன்.

பகுப்புக்கள் தொடர்பில் எனது கருத்து இதுதான்.

வெறும் 2300 கட்டுரைகளுக்கு 890 பகுப்புக்கள் இருந்தது எனக்குப் பொருத்தமானதாக படவில்லை. நீண்டகால நோக்கில் ஆரம்பத்திலேயே பகுப்புக்கள் எற்ற்படுத்தப்பட்டமையாலேயே பலர் தொகுக்கும் போது பகுப்புக் குழப்பங்கள் ஏற்படுகின்றன. குறித்த துறைசார் கட்டுரைகள் போதிய அளவில் குறித்த பகுப்பில் சேர்க்கப்பட்ட பின்னர் பொருத்தமான துணைப்பகுப்புக்களை ஏற்படுத்துவதே மிகச்சிலர் பங்களிக்கும் தமிழ் விக்கிப்பீடியாவுக்குப் பொருத்தமாக இருக்கும். - கோபி 17:35, 23 மார்ச் 2006 (UTC)[பதிலளி]

Encyclopedia of Earth – Structured Taxonomy and Range of Topics

I like the Wikipedia approach, and I think it is most suitable for Tamil Wikipedia. However, I think we can learn much by looking at the alternatives to Wikipedia. Alternatives can aid in assessing, understanding, and in creating Tamil Wikipedia. There are the traditional alternatives such Encarta, Britannica, and EOLSS. One emerging and closely related alternative is Digital Universe->Earth Portal -> Encyclopedia of Earth. Some of its policies stand in direct contrast to Wikipedia. Although, it is yet to establish and prove itself.

I would like to bring attention to the Taxonomy that they use. Although, we can not adopt their entire Taxonomy strictly, it certainly highlights the topic areas that Tamil Wikipedia may want to consider including. It can also help in categorization of Tamil Wikipedia articles. This is in the LongNow prospective of course.
