作業系統市佔率，是指在電子計算裝置中運行作業系統的市場占有比例。作業系統市佔率常因使用者升級、降級或更換使用之裝置而產生變化。目前全球使用人數最多的作業系統為Google公司推出的Android，截至2017年擁有超過26億名用戶[2]；微軟公司推出的Windows作業系統則有超過14億名用戶，是個人電腦市佔率最高之作業系統。
Windows自1990年代起，因為個人電腦的興起，曾稱霸作業系統市場達10餘年[3][4]；隨著近年行動裝置興起，行動裝置作業系統如Android、iOS等用戶大幅增加，Android更於2017年超越Windows，成為使用人數最多的作業系統[5][6]，宣告電腦主宰市場的時代逐漸終結[7]。
值得注意的是，由於精確計算作業系統的使用人數十分困難，市場調查公司多利用間接數據如聯網裝置數、裝置銷售量等估計作業系統市占率，因此最終得出的數據並不會完全準確。
個人電腦作業系統市佔率
個人電腦市場部分，微軟推出的Windows作業系統一直是市場的領導者，根據2023年4月Statcounter的調查，Windows市佔率高達62.65%，大幅領先主要競爭對手macOS的17.79%。[9]
以下收集的统计数据显示了最流行的桌面和笔记本操作系统的使用份额。
这些信息是从互联网浏览器的用户代理字符串推导出的。 这并不完全可靠， 因为：
- 互联网浏览器并不总是提供准确的信息给服务器。
- 报告也许只是针对某些专门的操作系统。
- 很多电脑因为防火墙或者过滤器而不能浏览一些网站。
- 有些电脑并未与互联网连接。
- 有些电脑同时运行多个操作系统（模拟）或者不同时间运行不同的操作系统（多次重启动）
- 统计方法（网站列表，操作系统的判定，时段的计算，个体的访问用户，网页的点击或者网站的点击）也许并未完全符合电脑这个领域。
- 某个电脑也许会被统计多次，而其他的却没有被统计。
- 使用某个操作系统的用户也许在其他电脑上运行另外的操作系统。
例如，以下数据显示Linux 只有0.8%的使用份额，是由IDC （页面存档备份，存于互联网档案馆）， Gartner（页面存档备份，存于互联网档案馆）做出的调查。而其他的调查则显示Linux的使用份额远远高于这个数字。 W3schools.com的网站统计显示出2007，Linux使用份额3.4%，远大于0.8%。
源网站出现的操作系统也包括在内，并且最大占有至少0.1% 的份额。
網路用戶端作業系統
网络客户端操作系统的数据来自Web浏览器提供给Web服务器的用户信息获得。这些数据有多种可能会产生较大的误差。

- Webmasterpro 使用超過 100,000 德語為主網站取樣. 數據是上月最後7月的平均數.
- Wikimedia 使用 1:1000 取樣時所產生的日誌取樣時所產生的日誌. Vista 的統計包括 Server 2008; XP 的統計包括 Server 2003.
- iOS 包括i iPhone, iPod 及 iPad.
- Mac OS X 的數據由4個來源細分, 其中版本10.6 (Snow Leopard)是最廣泛的應用.
- Clicky Web Analytics, StatOwl 及 Wikimedia 表明 Ubuntu 比起其它 Linux發行版有更多數量級的用戶.
