本季於2014年1月29日獲得再增添。[2] 監製之一Hart Hanson卸任本季節目制作總監，把重點放在他新的電視劇，因此，本季節目制作總監由另一位長久擔任編劇與監製Stephan Nathan出任。[2] 在本年一月，雖然福克斯廣播公司電視台前度主席Kevin Reilly表示本季將可能是最後一季，但在2014年7月，現任主席兼行政總裁Peter Rice透露：「本人希望本季不是最後的一季…這是一部令人充滿歡樂的劇集…不應該只有10年的時間…演員的合同將於本年約滿，所以我們必須有這樣的對話...但我希望會繼續…」[3]
本季主要故事情節包括第200集，由Stephan Nathan與Hart Hanson共同編寫，David Boreanaz作導演拍攝。[4] 故事以五十年代作背景，以向電影導演亞弗列•希治閣致敬。
另一方面，演員John Boyd將於本季首集加入，飾演一個初級FBI探員，以作為Booth的手下協助工作，並有可能成為常駐角色。[5] 而由John Francis Daley於第三季加入飾演心理學家的Dr. Sweet， 因他即將需要為其參與的新電影進行編寫及導演拍攝工作，所以在本季首集故事情節中其角色被神秘人殺害。監製之一Stephan Nathan透露，他認為把其角色殺死比起編寫他離開有更大的回響及影響力。[6] 而本劇的第206集，當中劇情包含了人體內206塊骨頭的名稱，同時也令本劇成為福克斯廣播公司電視歷史上最長壽的一小時電視劇。[7] 因應女主角Emily Deschanel再次懷孕，本季情節（如同上一次女主角懷孕）也加入Brennan懷有Booth第二名的孩子。[8] 除此之外，由於在編寫最後的一集時尚未確實是否會有下一季的出現 ， 因此其季度大結局的劇情像是系列的終結。[9]
