巴拉瑞特 （英語：Ballarat ，孖辣 ”，位於澳大利亚 維多利亞州 中部高地 墨爾本 西北方105公里（65英里）的一座內陸觀光城市，人口105,471（2018年）[ 2] 亞羅威河
在白人 到來之前，這地區已經有土著 居住。第一批到來視察的歐洲人，於1837年從吉朗 出發，是一行6人大多由蘇格蘭人組成的團隊。其隊長為薩默維爾·里爾蒙斯（Somerville Learmonth 托馬斯·利文斯通·里爾蒙斯 Thomas Livingstone Learmonth William Cross Yuille Henry Anderson
第一個在巴拉瑞特公開發現黃金 的人是托馬斯·希科克 巴寧揚 [ 3] [ 4] 愛爾蘭 及中國 的移民亦慕名而來，他們在溪澗及山丘之間搭建簡陋的棚屋 ，區內人口在短短數月間上升至1,000人[ 5] 森林溪 （Forrest Creek 亞歷山大山 Mount Alexander 亞拉臘 [ 6] [ 7]
1860年代至20世紀初，巴拉瑞特成功由礦業小鎮轉型為工業城市。棚屋和木屋漸漸被更加穩固的建築物所取代。阿尔弗雷德公爵 曾於1867年12月到訪，吸引了不少民眾前來歡迎[ 8] 墨爾本 的鐵路路線 [ 9] 乔治五世 與皇后玛丽 乘火車到此探訪[ 10]
由於該市的男丁積極參與第一次世界大戰 ，他們的傷亡導致人口進一步下降，最終令到巴拉瑞特失去首席省級地位給予吉朗 [ 11] 大萧条 對巴拉瑞特的打擊甚為嚴重，失業率 為有史以來最高，最差之時有超過1,000人排隊等候救濟[ 8] :38 。
巴拉瑞特機場 第二次世界大戰 期間得到擴建，並用作澳大利亞皇家空軍 的基地。1942年，巴拉瑞特連接到州際電網，在此之前其所需電力都由本地的發電廠 供給[ 12] [ 13] [ 14]

巴拉瑞特是维多利亚州重要的旅游城市之一，以废弃金矿改造而成的主题乐园：疏芬山淘金历史公园（Sovereign Hill Historical Park）每年吸引近80万游客，历史公园里的房屋、学校、教堂、店铺及街道都保留着十九世纪淘金热时的模样，工作人员也都穿着当年的历史服装。[ 16]
巴拉瑞特是澳大利亚联邦大学 （Federation University Australia）的主校区所在地，这所大学是在2010年由创建于1870年的巴拉瑞特大学 （University of Ballarat）和莫纳什大学 （Monash University）吉普斯兰校区合并而成的，主校园是位于巴拉瑞特南郊的海伦山校园（Mt. Helen Campus），占地约110公顷，在校学生近2.5万人。澳大利亚联邦大学提供从专科、学士、硕士及博士学位的课程。[ 16]
巴拉瑞特擁有溫和的海洋性氣候 [ 17] [ 18] 四季 分明，由於它位處海拔345米（1,132英尺），每月平均的氣溫都比墨爾本低攝氏 3至4度。
