妮基·海莉曾在2024年2月6日的內華達州共和黨總統初選（英语：2024 Nevada Republican presidential nominating contests）勝出^[a]，但由於內華達州共和黨黨團早於2023年8月14日抵制和無視這個由內華達州機構而非共和黨所組織的初選，而令整場內華達州初選無約束力。由共和黨組織的初選在2月8日舉行，並且由川普勝出。^[5]

海莉在2024年3月3日和6日的华盛顿哥伦比亚特区共和黨總統初選（英语：2024 District of Columbia Republican primary）和佛蒙特州共和黨總統初選（英语：2024 Vermont Republican presidential primary）中勝出。^[6]其餘州份皆由特朗普獲勝。同日，海莉宣布暫停競選活動。

2024年3月12日，川普在贏得華盛頓州共和黨總統初選（英语：2024 Washington Republican presidential primary）的40張黨代表票後，已獲得的黨代表票數總計來到1,241張，超過欲獲得提名所需的1,215張門檻。因此共和黨全國委員會宣布，唐納·川普贏得2024年共和黨總統候選人的提名，並在同年7月的的全國黨代表大會上正式確認。^[7]
