『ニール・ヤング・アーカイヴス Vol.II: 1972-1976』(Neil Young Archives Volume II: 1972-1976)は、アメリカ系カナダ人のフォーク・ロック・ミュージシャン、ニール・ヤングの10枚組ボックス・セットで、当初は限定デラックス・ボックス・セットとして2020年11月20日にリリースされた(ニール・ヤング・アーカイヴスのサイトではストリーミング配信も)。このリリースは、2009年の『The Archives Vol.1 1963-1972』に続くニール・ヤング・アーカイヴ・シリーズの2作目のボックスセットで、1972年から1976年までの3年半をカバーしている。トラックリストは2020年9月20日にニール・ヤング・アーカイヴスのサイトで正式に発表され、10月14日にはファースト・シングル「Come Along and Say You Will」が「Song of the Day」としてサイトに掲載された。そして2020年10月16日、このセットは彼のオンライン・ストア限定リリースとして予約受付が開始され、当初は全世界で3,000枚のみが発売された。翌日に完売した後、ヤングは数週間後に一般小売版とデラックス・ボックス・セットのセカンド・プレスが2021年3月5日に発売される予定であることを発表した。続いて10月21日にはセカンド・シングル「Homefires」、11月3日にはサード・シングル「Powderfinger」の別バージョンがリリースされた[10]。
2014年5月、ヤングは第2巻を夏までに完成させ、第2巻に続いて残りの巻も比較的早く発行すると述べた [13]。 2016年7月、ローリング・ストーン誌とスラッシャーズ・ウィートのウェブサイトは、ヤングは同年10月にプロミス・オブ・ザ・リアルとのツアーが終了した後、アーカイブス・ヴォリュームIIの完成に専念するつもりだと報じた。物理的なリリースはまだ計画されていたが、「高解像度のウェブサイト」も含まれ、『デュム』と『ヒッチハイカー』と題された未発表作品も収録される予定だった(『ヒッチハイカー』は後に2017年9月8日に単独のアルバムとしてリリースされ、『デュム』は後に第2巻に収録されることが決定した)。ニール・ヤング・アーカイヴスのウェブサイトも同年12月に開設された)。2018年8月、自身のウェブサイトの「NYA Times-Contrarian」エリアの「Letters to the Editor」セクションに寄せられたファンからの問い合わせに対し、ヤングは次のように答えている: 「2019年5月、NYA V2のCDとトシ・オオヌキ(大貫敏之、ヤングの映像関連のスタッフで日本人)の別冊本が発売されます。ブルーレイは経済的な理由から、もはや実現不可能です。しかし、NYAはハイレゾオーディオを含め、ブルーレイが持っていたものを提供することができます。ありがとうNYA 」。
2020年3月、ヤングは第2巻を同年7月24日にリリースすることを決定した[14]。 コロナウィルスのパンデミックに関連して何度も延期された後、アーカイブスのウェブサイトによると、11月20日に発売される予定だった。9月20日にアーカイブスのサイトに掲載されたトラックリストで、第2巻の内容が確認され [15]、 そして10月14日、ファースト・シングル「Come Along and Say You Will」が「Song of the Day」として同サイトに掲載された。その後、このセットは16日に彼のオンライン・ストア限定リリースとして予約受付が開始され、当初は全世界で3,000組のみが販売された [16]。 翌日には完売となり、ニールとワーナー・レコードは数週間後、デラックス・エディションと一般小売盤の第2弾を発表した。続いて10月21日にはセカンド・シングル「Homefires」、11月3日にはサード・シングル「Powderfinger」のオルタネイト・ヴァージョンがリリースされた[17]。
