தநாமிவா நிறுவனம் (தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியம் நிறுவனம்) (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board - TNEB Limited) சூலை 01, 2010 இல் மின்சார சட்டம், 2003 இன் கீழ் அந்நாளைய அரசின் தமிழ் நாடு மின்சார வாரியத்தை மறுசீரமைத்து தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியத்தின் நிர்வாக அமைப்பை கரு அமைப்பாக கொண்டு தநாமிவா வரையறை (தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியம் வரையறை) என்ற ஓர் தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் பொதுத்துறை நிறுவனமாக அமைக்கப்பட்டது. இது தமிழக அரசின் ஆற்றல் துறையின் கீழ் இயங்குகிறது. இந்த நிறுவனத்தின் கீழ் தமிழ்நாடு அரிசின் முன்னாள் தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியத்தின் மின் தொடரமைப்பு பிரிவை கருவாக அமைப்பாக கொண்ட ஓர் தனி துணை நிறுவனமாகவும், மின் உற்பத்தி மற்றும் பகிர்மான பிரிவை கருவாக அமைப்பாக கொண்ட ஓர் தனி துணை நிறுவனமாகவும் பின் வரும் வடிவில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டு இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக இயங்கி கொண்டிருகிறது:hi

மின்சார சட்டம், 2003 இன் படி அனைத்து மாநில/ஒன்றிய மின்சார வாரியங்கள் அனைத்தும் நிறுவனங்கள் சட்டம் 1956 கீழ் நிறுவனமாக மறுசீரமைக்கப்பட வேண்டும்
In accordance to "The Electricity Act, 2003" rules & Central Electricity Authority of India orders, the தமிழ்நாடு அரசு's maximum time to dissolve Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) is 2008.
So to comply with the "Electricity Act 2003", தமிழ்நாடு அரசு planed to Restructure TNEB and also constituted a committee of senior government officials to study the issue of restructuring the TNEB

As per the plan, in October 2008 the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to split TNEB into three companies, a holding company named TNEB Limited, with two subsidiary companies, namely Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited (TANTRANSCO) and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO),^[2] with the stipulation that the above mentioned companies shall be fully owned by Government.

In October 2008, the Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to split TNEB into three companies. On 1 November 2010, TNEB Limited became a holding company with two subsidiaries, தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியம் (TANGEDCO) and தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரியம் (TANTRANSCO).
