ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਜੀ, 2 ਮਾਰਚ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਪਟਿਆਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਹੋਣਗੇ - ਪਹਿਲਾ ਤਾਂ ਫੈਮੀਨਿਜ਼ਮ ਅਤੇ ਫੋਕਲੋਰ 2025 ਕੱਲ੍ਹ 25 ਫ਼ਰਵਰੀ 2025 ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ 31 ਮਾਰਚ 2025 ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ। ਦੂਜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨਜ਼ 2025 ਦੀ ਸਲਾਨਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਕੇ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਅਹਿਮ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਭਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ਼ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈਕੇ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ।

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਸਲਾਨਾ ਗ੍ਰਾਂਟ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਪਾਈ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਰਜ਼ਾਮੰਦੀ ਮਿਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪੋਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਸਲਾਨਾ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਦੀ ਪੋਸਟ ਨੂੰ ਓਪਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ। ਮੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਲਗਭਗ 100 ਸਾਲ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਵਾਨ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਹੋਈ, ਅਸੀਂ "ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸੂਬਾ" ਮੰਗਿਆ। ਫਿਰ ਹਿੰਦ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਹਿੰਦੀਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਲਹਿਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਸ਼ਬਦਕੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿੰਦੀਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਪੈਸਾ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਰਤਣ ਲਈ ਪੈਸੇ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। 3 ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ "ਚੱੜਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ" ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ।

Too many Wiki pages have different names or descriptions. So, I tried to standardize Wiki names and description in Panjabi, Let me know if I am doing it wrong, or it needs correction. I appreciate your helps and feedback.

With a harmonized experience, logged-in desktop users now have access to the capabilities shown in the image below.

We will implement this improvement on your wiki on Monday, March 17th, 2025 and remove the current dashboard by May 2025. Please reach out with any questions concerning the dashboard in this thread.

Punjabi Wikipedia is one of the wikis proposed for this phase! This extension is designed to help organizers plan and manage events, wikiprojects, and other on-wiki collaborations. Also making these events/wikiprojects more discoverable. You can find out more here on the FAQs page.

The three main features of this extension are:

1. Event Registration: A simple way to sign up for events on the wiki.
2. Event List: A calendar to show all events on your wiki. Soon, it will include WikiProjects too.
3. Invitation Lists: A tool to find editors who might want to join, based on their edits.

Please Note:

This extension comes with a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by the administrators of Punjabi Wikipedia, allowing the admins to decide when and how the extension tools are used on the wikis. Once released, the organizer-facing tools (Event Registration and Invitation Lists) can only be used if someone is granted the Event-Organizer right, managed by the admins.

The extension is already on some wikis,e.g Meta, Wikidata, English Wikipedia (see full list). Check out the phased deployment plan and share your thoughts by March 31, 2025.

Dear Admins, your feedback and thoughts are especially important because this extension includes a new user right called "Event Organizer," which will be managed by you. I am Jon Harald Søby from the Norwegian Wikimedia chapter, Wikimedia Norge. During the month of April, we are holding an editing contest about India on the Wikipedias in Norwegian Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Northern Sámi and Inari Sámi̩, and we had the idea to also organize an "inverse" contest where contributors to Indian-language Wikipedias can write about Norway and Sápmi.

Therefore, I would like to invite interested participants from the Punjabi-language Wikipedia (it doesn't matter if you're from India or not) to join the contest by visiting this page in the Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia and following the instructions that are there.

The South Asia Open Community Call (SAOCC) is a monthly call where South Asian communities come together to participate, share community activities, receive important updates and ask questions in the moderated discussions.

Wikimedia Ukraine, in cooperation with the MFA of Ukraine and Ukrainian Institute, has launched the fifth edition of writing challenge "Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month", which lasts from 14th April until 16th May 2025. The campaign is dedicated to famous Ukrainian artists of cinema, music, literature, architecture, design, and cultural phenomena of Ukraine that are now part of world heritage. We accept contributions in every language!

The most active contesters will receive prizes.

If you are interested in coordinating long-term community engagement for the campaign and becoming a local ambassador, we would love to hear from you! Please let us know your interest.

1. Try it out and share your feedback

   Please try the updated wikitext feature on the beta wiki and let us know what you think, either on our talk page or by booking a call with our UX researcher.

2. Get a sneak peak and help shape the Visual Editor user designs

   Help us test the new design prototypes by participating in user sessions – sign up here to receive an invite. We're especially hoping to speak with people from underrepresented and diverse groups. If that's you, please consider signing up! No prior or extensive editing experience is required. User sessions will start May 14th.

We plan to bring this feature to Wikimedia wikis later this year. We’ll reach out to wikis for piloting in time for deployments. Creators and maintainers of reference-related tools and templates will be contacted beforehand as well.

Hi all! We have good news to share regarding the ongoing problem with graphs and charts affecting all wikis that use them.

As you probably know, the old Graph extension was disabled in 2023 due to security reasons. We’ve worked in these two years to find a solution that could replace the old extension, and provide a safer and better solution to users who wanted to showcase graphs and charts in their articles. We therefore developed the Charts extension, which will be replacing the old Graph extension and potentially also the EasyTimeline extension.

After successfully deploying the extension on Italian, Swedish, and Hebrew Wikipedia, as well as on MediaWiki.org, as part of a pilot phase, we are now happy to announce that we are moving forward with the next phase of deployment, which will also include your wiki.

The deployment will happen in batches, and will start from May 6. Please, consult our page on MediaWiki.org to discover when the new Charts extension will be deployed on your wiki. You can also consult the documentation about the extension on MediaWiki.org.

If you have questions, need clarifications, or just want to express your opinion about it, please refer to the project’s talk page on Mediawiki.org, or ping me directly under this thread. If you encounter issues using Charts once it gets enabled on your wiki, please report it on the talk page or at Phabricator.
