ஜெகன்நாத் (Jagannath) எனும் சமசுகிருத சொல்லிற்கு அனைத்துப் பிரபஞ்சங்களின் தலைவர் எனப் பொருளாகும். ஜெகன்நாதர், இந்து சமயத்தின் திருமூர்த்திகளில் ஒருவரான விஷ்ணுவின் அவதாரங்களில் எட்டாவதான கிருட்டிணரின் பெயர்களில் ஒன்றாகும். ஒடிசா மாநிலத்தின் புரி நகரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள புரி ஜெகன்நாதர் கோயில் ஜெகன்நாதருக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட கோயில்களில் ஒன்றாகும். ஏழு நாட்களுக்கு மேலாக நடைபெறும் ஜெகன்நாதரின் புரி தேர்த் திருவிழா உலகப் புகழ் பெற்றதாகும்

ஜெகன்நாதர் வழிபாடு கிழக்கு இந்தியாவில் ஒடிசா, மேற்கு வங்காளம், சத்தீஸ்கர், ஜார்கண்ட், குஜராத் மாநிலங்களில் பிரபலமானதாகும்.^{[1] [2]}

புரி நகரத்தில் அமைந்திருக்கும் வைணக் கோயிலான புரி ஜெகன்நாதர் கோயிலில் கிருஷ்ணர் ஜெகன்நாதராகவும், பலராமன் பாலபத்திரராகவும், சுபத்திரை சுபத்திராவாகவும் மரச்சிற்பங்களில் காட்சி தருகின்றனர்.

புரி ஜெகன்நாதர் கோயிலிருந்து ஜெகன்நாதர், பாலபத்திரர் மற்றும் சுபத்திரை தனித் தனி தேர்களில் அமர்ந்து நகரை வலம் வரும் ரத யாத்திரை விழாவில் பெருந்திரளான பக்தர்கள் கூடுவர். மேலும் அகமதாபாத் நகரத்திலும் ஜெகன்நாதரின் தேரோட்டம் ஆண்டு தோறும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.^{[3] [4]}
